Cindy | 3 comments I'm getting ready to sign up with LS, but I have questions. (I've set up my own publishing company with business license, etc. and have my own IBSNs). If I use their "print to order" service, who processes the orders?

I understand that I have to be my own marketer and have a solid plan before I go forward, I'm just unsure about the details of setting up and processing orders.

Also, since I'm a new author/publisher, will LS even take me on? Thanks for any help.

Pat Whitaker (whitakerbooks) | 54 comments I set up as an author/publisher (own ISNNs etc.) and had no issues at all. First time around some things I found a bit difficult to sort but my experience was that these were invariably blindingly obvious when pointed in the right direction - and the L/S people were always very prompt and helpful in doing that.

I use the whole service including Ingram's marketing system and in this instance any books ordered through bookshops, Amazon, B&N, iTunes et al are handled by L/S and royalties paid as described. Any I market myself I order from L/S and pay printing cost and shipping.

All very simple.

Cindy | 3 comments Thanks. When you market on your own, how are you taking those book orders? And do you give L/S the shipping info and let them do it?

I appreciate your response.

I'm probably not much help as I'm down in New Zealand, which influences what I do.

My marketing is the usual internet stuff (not as much as I should) such as my website, plus various local book events when the opportunity arises.

If I get a direct request for print copies from NZ I simply supply from stock I keep on hand - ordered from L/S when needed. From anywhere else in the world, I suggest they order through their local bookshop, Amazon, B&N or whatever, as shipping from NZ is prohibitive and is paid both ways (although I will supply if they really wish me to do so).

So no, I don't provide individual shipping orders for customers to L/S, and I'm not sure that you can - but I could be wrong.
