What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I may never find this book as I read it a long time ago when I was younger (around 2006 or even 2005) but the things I seem to remember are the main is a female, a teenager and something that stands out to me are descriptions of how humid or muggy it is. I vaguely remember some fantasy or supernatural things happening, and I'm fairly sure it was a duology.. I remember te cover being very simple. I've tried googling everything but I can't find what I'm looking for. Thank you!
