2016 for me is going to be about moving out of my comfort zone and reading all the highly acclaimed or classic "good-reads" that have been on my wish list for a while... ( reccomendations will be highly appreciated :) )

Great list. All are in my tbr list except interpreter of maladies which I have already read. It's a wonderful collection of short stories. If you like short stories would also suggest you Unaccustomed earth by Jhumpa lahiri which is unmatched in terms of short stories collection.

Also, British Council is located just above my office and whenever there is Book Sale, I always find some good books by the authors who are not so popular, but the writing is really good. Let's hope to dig some more awesome books.

Shoa, Gehna: I have already read HHGTTG. I could not put it down. Though u do need to stop finding sense while reading it! It was like a roller coaster ride!

1. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
A wonderful read. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey to France and Germany during the second world war. The author has very artistically detailed every detail,,, I dont usually like historical fiction, because I find it difficult to picture . But with this book I felt like I was part of the scene and in more than one instance I was oblivious to everything around me!

I just read If on a Winter's Night a Traveller by Calvino... His books are off the hook... Also you can read Modiano Patrick and Ali Smith's stories!!

I couldn't find any works by Modiano Patrick... any book in particular you recommend? If on a Winter's Night a Traveller and How to Be Both look very very interesting.

House of mirth.. led to my downfall.. A boring classic that I could not finish( very highly rated though. May catch up with it sometime later)

When the going gets tough... rom- com to the rescue! An easy read. Too fluffy for my taste though. Dont think I'd like to continue with the series

How I Lost You byJenny Blackhurst
I picked this book after reading the rave reviews on amazon. It had so much potential to be an awesome read. But it fell short on so many levels. The story line felt like it had been written by a 14 year old.
Story of a young lady just released from prison after being accused of killing her baby boy, and how she goes on to uncover what really happened. It just seemed like a very convenient plot and an ending that was clipped short

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
If had my way this book would have had a very different ending. A lovely book. It made me laugh, smile and cry!
Story of a girl who comes to care for a grumpy quadriplegic man. She learns of a mortal secret he has attempts to change his mind...

Me before you was a gritty read. Am not gonna read is sequel, After you, though I liked the first book.

Col. did u read Oliver's Story after Love Story??
Im scared the same thing will happen if I read After you.. dont want to be disappointed.
(not to mention how expensive the book is!! ;) )

I didn't. I don't like sequels unless they are action packed.

Room by Emma Donoghue

A lovely book about a sad story, narrated, very innocently by a 5 year old boy! I love the way his mind works and how he finds pleasures from the little things in life!

Update! Done more reading this year than I have in recent times!
However only two from the list I made for myself.
1. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest : is on my kindle. No idea how long its going to take me to finish.
2. trying to listen to a classic: The House of Mirth. And like all classics, it is taking me forever!
3.Guys I need help. Any recommendations for an Indian Author?

Cuckoo is a difficult book.
Mirth should be fine, once you get into the story. I love Wharton.
