Brittie (brittiereads) | 127 comments I know money is hard to come by, being a spoonie on top of it does not make it easier.

I just found a website that lets you borrow kindle books.
http://www.booklending.com/

The digital library is always a great place to get books.
www.overdrive.com

There are a bunch of free sites that have classics as well.

If you know of any sites that have books that free please list them.

Betsy | 65 comments Thanks Brittie,

I have an iPad Air but have heard that the kindle is easier for reading. They've gotten fairly cheap now so am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this. I do find my eyes get kinda tired when I read articles on the iPad.

Wilderness (wdoregon) I have the kindle paperwhite and find it to be much easier on the eyes.

If you look at the thread, Weapon of Choice a lot of people like ereaders because of their weight and the ease of reading.

I love my kindle paperwhite. I can read it in the dark with my migraines. So it is awesome.

plus, you can find a lot of free books for the kindle. So thats always good.

If you have amazon prime, you can "borrow" certain books for free on Amazon. I know that Amazon Prime is free for students for a year if you have a .edu email address. Obviously this won't be helpful for everyone but since we have Amazon Prime anyway through my fiance's parents, it's a nice perk.

Brittie (brittiereads) | 127 comments Amazon prime is a nice perk for spoonies. I love it because I'm house bound so I can get lot of things shipped to me fast.

You get a free borrow read once a month and a free first read book every month plus free 2 day shipping.

It's free to moms and students I believe. You can also get a free one month trial.

Definitely worth checking out. It is I think $99/year unless you can get the free mom or student membership.

Julie Croner | 15 comments Brittie - for the amazon prime free books do you have to have a kindle or do you know if you can use the app? I have an iPad and can't figure out how to get it to work!!

You can use the kindle first reads but you can't use the kindle lending library. I don't really like the kindle lending library so you are not missing out.

Devin (campredwood) | 21 comments Overdrive is a really great app that you can use to borrow library ebooks in multiple formats and audiobooks if you library has that kind of service. I use it on my iphone and kindle. Kindle formatted books only work in kindle but epub format is easier to come by and you can use on any overdrive account.

Also if you're not opposed to torrenting things, I've found ePub files are very easy to find for mainstream books. I save the books to my Dropbox and can open them on any of my devices once Overdrive is installed. If anybody wants help with that just ask, I can probably find a file or send a fully downloaded file to you if need be.

Also: Kobo has a lot of classic books for free if you have a Kobo. I think I got Alice in Wonderland and a few others, which is nice because some of them are books I really liked after I read them in school. They also have books from upcoming authors free sometimes, and I've found some pretty decent books that way.
