The Jess Dunn Correctional Center in Taft, Oklahoma is looking for paperbacks, mysteries, sci-fi, and anything to help an inmate transition back to free society.

This is a men's minimum security facility, which means its inmates are in need of transition material: self-help, how-to, etc. (see below).

Please send your:
-Paperbacks (no hard cover books at this facility)
-Sci-Fi
-Mysteries
-Transition literature: self-help, life skills, family values, relationship advice, motivational, books on starting your own business
-Magazines and comics are okay (note that these may exclude a shipment from the media rate due to their advertising content)

Do not send:
Hard cover books. Also, the usual stuff. No sexually or violently charged material. Nothing that depicts racial animosity.

No donation form is required.

Mail to:
Jess Dunn Correctional Center
Attn: Library Supervisor
P.O. Box 316
Taft, Oklahoma 74463

And as always, don’t forget to ask the USPS for the media rate if you’re shipping books (and not comics/magazines, which contain advertisements, and are therefore not eligible).

Thank you for your donation!

No, not for this prison. They stressed paperbacks only. Some prisons can accept either, but a lot of them have policies prohibiting hardbacks because the hard cover gets ripped off and used for other things, sometimes even a weapon. For the same reason, almost all prisons don't accept spiral-bound notebooks.

But thanks for donating, and happy holidays!
