I immediately liked All the Bright Places; it's well-written and I identify with and enjoy Finch's sardonic narration. I like it --- but I also have to admit that it seems a bit predictable or like something I've read before - two precocious teens who are smarter and more introspective than their dull, one-dimensional counterparts, able to quote classic literature while striving to break free from small towns and smaller minds - however, I like Violet and I like Finch. Where was Finch when I was in high school?!?! I like that the story is told from the alternating perspectives of the two main characters; it helps move it along and makes for a quick read. I also like that there's a little mystery: What happened the night of Eleanor's death? How did Finch get that scar? Will he go to "sleep" again? I'm excited to keep reading! What are your opinions and first impressions of the first 100 pages? What do you think will happen to Finch and Violet?

This paragraph actually gave me the push I need to stop watching youtube videos and just read the damn book. So I'm thinking that since they were coming from a party the night of Eleanor's death, that one or both of them were drinking and maybe that is why Violet feels guilty, I'm not sure if the book mentions who was driving so far. Just that Eleanor was killed on impact. I really wanted to keep reading but I wanted to respond to this thread before I kept going and knew too much. Honestly, I feel like Finch might be making up all of thee different personas to get away from his "asleep" self. I do hope he "sleeps" again because he seems to be a completely different person when he is, especially considering his bouts of violence. I'm already giving this book 5 stars in my mind. I really love the writing and I love the narration and it's impossible to get confused between the thoughts of Violet and the thoughts of Finch. Finch is sarcastic and interesting and weird in a wonderful way and Violet is depressed and trying to find out where she is now that her sister is dead. And it really seems like her sister as her whole world. Honestly, this book reminds me of silver linings playbook sort of. This might be one of my favorites of 2015 lol.
Its not gripping. hence why i am still only what? 3% and had no desire to continue? my OCD wont let me keep putting it off though. but you know i felt the same way about Eleanor & Park in the begging. i put it down for a month and picked it back up and to this day it's one of my favorites. i have high hopes in the end.
