If I get desperate, I may just go with The Mistress of Spices by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni (I’m often suggesting people add herbs and spices to their cooking!) or Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal by Mary Roach (since I’m always asking lots of questions about patients’ alimentary canals!)
I have just read Who We Were by Lucy Neave with the main character working as a medical scientist which is what I used to do many years ago, so if I get really desperate (time-wise), I'll count that one for this category.

Yearly Challenge 4. Reading Bingo Challenge (Bound Together)
Duration: 1 January, 2016 - 31 December, 2016
We liked Bingo so much that it's back for 2016!
Rules are very few:
1. Begins Jan 1 2016, ends Dec 31, 2016. Books read before or after those dates do not count.
2. Create as many bingos as possible, ideally covering the whole board by year-end.
3. Keep us updated in this thread how you're doing and what you're reading to cover your squares.
4. Squares are open for your interpretation.
E.g "something blue" could be blue cover, or something that made you sad. "2016 year of the monkey" could be a book about monkeys, or other animals, or something smart - because monkeys are highly intelligent.
Interpret as you wish!
5. Have fun! And remember - it's supposed to be challenging!

I started my reading year with an Australian author, Christine Piper and After Darkness. It was a good book - 4★ - and I could slot it in to several of my yearly challenges, so I was happy with that. Am now onto The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman which is...different.
I've updated my challenges for the month and January's list of reads. Looking forward to my reading in February.About half of my books this month have been 300 - 399 pages long.
All have been published this century.
43% of my reading has been part of a series.
43% of my reading has been historical fiction.
67% of my reading has been by female authors.
These last 2 stats are not a surprise!! Nor is the first stat.
Emily wrote: "I'm impressed by how well-organized you are, Kathryn!"I wish I could say I'm as organised in other parts of my life!!
Updated for February's reads. No change in the size of the books I'm reading.
No change in the proportion of historical fiction I'm reading.
No significant change in the proportion of female authors I'm reading.
The majority of my reads have been 4 stars (35%) and 3 stars (30%).
My reading is very centred around UK (48%) and Australian (33%) authors so far this year... I'm not sure how much that will change throughout the year - probably not a whole lot, I would suspect.
Great challenges and love your bingo cards, I might be back to Good luck with your challenges!
Updates for my March reads:My historical fiction reading has dropped - by 3%!
I'm reading even more women authors than I was earlier in the year - up by 3%.
I read less books in March than in January, however the number of pages I read is more, so I must be going for larger books this month...
I must try and get more male authors into my reading next month - although all the books I have sitting waiting for me are by female authors, so probably not going to happen!
I just realised I haven't actually posted a new update since March!!My crime/mystery reading (37%) has eclipsed my historical fiction reading (22%).
I'm still reading 2 female authors for every male author I read.
I'm reading almost equal amounts of Australian (38%) and British (35%) authors.
I read my third 5★ book this month.
I have been trying to get further into some of my series this year, and half my reading has been from series and half from standalones. However, I've also started new series, which kind of defeats the purpose!
Halfway through the year - here's hoping the next half is as fun a read as the first half...

I also hope to participate in 4 yearly challenges, some 3 month seasonal challenges (Aussie Readers Group), a TBR twin read most months (2015 Reading Challenge) and monthly theme reads in the Aussie Readers’, Bound Together and 2015 Reading Challenge groups, as time permits.
My goal will be 100 books, but I will probably exceed that. Books for some challenges will overlap with other challenges.
All lists subject to change throughout the course of the year depending on availability and mood.
