Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments Here are the first sets of twins for the new year! I apologize for the delay--I got a little off track with the holidays. I'm posting these now but likely won't be able to get out all the messages until later in the day. Thank you for your understanding!

Please reach out to your twin to choose a book to read, then come back to this thread to let us know what you've decided. We'd also love to hear what you each thought of it when you've finished!

I don't mind reading another book this month. The one I'm reading is not too long. Let me know if you'd like to team up and we can compare books.

message 21: by Kara (new)

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments Thanks, Maria! If you and Jeana would like to be paired, that would be great. :)

message 22: by Misha (new)

Misha | 8 comments Jeana, I also wouldn't mind being your twin.
I'm jumping in a little late.
That way no one would have to read 2!

message 23: by Jeana (new)

Jeana Budnick | 228 comments I'm willing to team up with whoever wants to. Maybe I could team up with two people? or is that being too ambitious? lol

message 24: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariah90602) | 2296 comments I don't mind either way Jeana.

message 25: by Winter, Group Reads (new)

Winter (winter9) | 5018 comments Starting Stray today, looking forward to it a lot!!

message 26: by Marisa (new)

Marisa | 20 comments Sherry and I just finished "The Perfume Collector" by Kathleen Tessaro. To summarize, Grace lives in England and one day gets a letter from a lawyer in Paris stating she has received an inheritance from a woman named Eve D'orsey. However, Grace has no idea who this woman is or why she has chosen her. Grace travels to Paris to solve the mystery.

Both of us really enjoyed the book and liked how it was written from different perspectives. Would definitely recommend!

message 27: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 581 comments Kat and I initially chose Theodore Boone by John Grisham, which I loved, but Kat couldn't finish! I loved the main character, a 13yr-old boy who was a bit implausibly mature, but he was so nice, I couldn't complain! And I felt the story moved along really well, although was a bit disappointed at the resolution (or lack of) at the end. But I will be reading more Theodore Boone books after this!

Because Kat couldn't finish this book, we decided to choose another and went with Confessions of a GP by Benjamin Daniels. Coming from a healthcare background myself, I enjoyed this and was able to compare and contrast things in the British NHS with some of the ways we do things in Australia. I could sympathise with the author in his dealings with bureaucracy and with his patients. Kat is still going with this one.

message 28: by Winter, Group Reads (new)

Winter (winter9) | 5018 comments Both Lulu and I finished Stray! Both liked it! Talking for myself I loved how she has written it not with all the usual YA clishé, and it is very intriguing, I keep wanting to know more about the universe and about the protagonist! We're reading the next book : Lab Rat One in February :-D

So that was my first TBR, so fun!

message 29: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire6452) | 718 comments Anita and I have finished A Thousand Splendid Suns, and we both loved it! Hosseini's character development is amazing, and the women in this book are beautifully drawn.

Now we're working on our second book, The Marauders.

Glad you both enjoyed A Thousand Splendid Suns, Claire - I really enjoyed it as well when I read it almost a couple of years ago. It's a fascinating although heart-breaking and frustrating glimpse into that culture!

message 31: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Awesome, Lisa! I think it's cool that you decided to read more than one book. Hopefully you can still discuss Night Film when you're both finished. :)

message 32: by Caro (new)

Caro (karopi) | 995 comments Gretchen and I finished the book already a couple of weeks ago. Both gave the book 5 stars. I really like it reading with her and enjoy both the book and the interaction. Was our first Margaret Atwood and both love it..Ready to read more from her.
