John Dennehy I just ordered a book with bitcoin--and while I would have preferred a qr code, it was pretty seamless. I also just put my book in the "funding" stage and would like to promote pre-sales to other bitcoin users. How would it work if the project is not backed? Would the bitcoin be returned to the wallet it was sent from?

This looks like a great question for Inkshares. I recommend you email jeremy@inkshares.com and ask that way, since he might not see this post.

(And then post the answer, so in the future people can see the question and answer in one spot!)

John Dennehy I emailed and they wrote back: We use Stripe to process bitcoin transactions and in the event of a refund, the bitcoins will be sent back to the wallet from which they originated.

John's book is https://www.inkshares.com/projects/il... in case anyone comes across this thread and wants to check it out.

Amanda Orneck (amandaorneck) I do know that people outside the US cannot order via bitcoin. I had a reader try to do that and the system had no method for shipping if he chose to order a physical book using bitcoin.

John Dennehy Thanks Joe and Amanda. I can't figure why international readers would be restricted, but good to know.

It also seems they have changed their policy regarding pre-orders. Now, when pre-ordering with bitcoin a message pops up and tells you they will send you an email with instructions for payment once the project is funded. I suppose some aspects of bitcoin payment are in flux.
