Julia I think my favorite part in this book is when Harry is shopping for the first time in Diagon Alley

Mahima Pradhan My favourite part is when Hermione meets Ron and Harry in the Hogwarts Express. Another one is the Sorting Ceremony.

Yeah that's really funny! It's weird to think about how much Ron hates Hermione then and realize that they eventually got married.

Dee/ bookworm | 5 comments I liked when Harry meets Hagrid.

sidra I liked how Hagrid cared and cried for Harry when he was leaving The Baby Harry to The Dursleys.

I loved Neville helping them to fight Malfoy and co ... and also Gred and Forge throwing snowballs at the back of Quirrel's head and hitting Voldemort in the face ! I'd missed - or didn't compute - both these on previous reads so I think that adds to my enjoyment of them !

Julia I love the Diagon Alley scenes!!! There so interesting. Plus they also make me wish I had gotten an exceptance letter even more

Julia And Lee Jordans commentary is HILARIOUS

Saara Sen-Basuchoudhary Yes!!!!!

Azkamalazka | 234 comments guys, in the beginning of the book, how come Hagrid has to take baby Harry, on a MOTERCYCLE, when Dumbledore could have just apparated safely with him?? plus, when I was re-reading the books, Dumbledore states that he "passed many parties on my way here", celebrating The Boy Who Lived.
number 1, how in the world did he "pass many parties" there, and number 2, why didnt he just apparate with him??

(also why does he carry lemon drops in his pocket all day...?)

Number Two: Because that's how J.K. Rowling wrote the book.

Saara Sen-Basuchoudhary Haha Josie

Arcane (alliensy) | 4 comments I've started reading the first book again after so many many years and I have to say that if the Dumbledore of the movies were exactly like the Dumbledore of the books, I would have died of laughter!

Dumbledore is my favourite part of this book.

Dumbledore was busy setting up the charm to keep Harry safe. The risk of having Hagrid carry Harry was less than he faced in the future, both because the time period was shorter and because the Death Eaters were disorganized and shocked.

Mary Catelli One of my favorite moments was in the Alley:

Outside the Apothecary, Hagrid checked Harry's list again.
'Just yer wand left -- oh yeah, an I still haven't got yeh a birthday present.'
Harry felt himself go red.
'You don't have to --'
'I know I don't have to. Tell yeh what, I'll get yer animal.”
