I am reading "Astoria" by Peter Stark because it was one I wanted to read this year but didn't, so I suggested it for our book club selection for 2016. Nothing speaks "North America" like reading about the parties that set out to settle the wild western coast in the early 1800's.

Perhaps a bit outdated but lovely to read.

The Storm Murders: A Thriller by the Canadian writer John Farrow

I'm going with either The 5th Wave, since I'll be reading it anyway for another group and before the movie comes out, or "City of Fallen Angels" by Cassandra Clare.

Yesterday I decided to read "The Day the World Came to Town, 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland" by Jim deFede and I have finished already. I couldn't put this book down and would highly recommend it! What an amazing story under such sad circumstances.

I decided to read "House of the Rising Sun" by James Lee Burke. It's a tale of love, loss, betrayal, vengeance and retribution that follows Texas Ranger Hackberry Holland on his journey to reunite with his estranged son, Ishmael, a captain in the United States Army. This is the latest book by James Lee Burke. I have enjoyed all his books! I know I won't be disappointed!

I'm either going to read "Soul Catcher", "The Whiskey Rebels", or "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". For each continent, I want to read a book that captures some element of its setting. I'm picking books that are heavy with descriptions and grounded in the country's culture.

I am currently reading "The Secret Garden." So far it is interesting and I like it.

I'm going to read East of Eden by John Steinbeck for this category.

Midnight is good. Quirk but good.

I don't really have one favorite book, but East of Eden probably comes the closest. It has everything in it!! I have reread it several times.

I read Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly by Anthony Bourdain for another challenge I am doing and it works for this task. Interesting read!
