To be perfectly honest, I don't either, but I'm thinking for the purposes of the challenge, it will work. In fact, if we are talking about what I personally find unusual... a good example would be Susan Hinshaw from Valerie Wolzien's series. Way too "normal", which definitely qualifies as unusual in my world.

Cobwebs-Iced-Across-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) I can't count this for the challenges, since I'm reading it for a review post on Jan. 1, but someone else might:
Huntress Moon has a truly exceptional antagonist, really "peculiar." In fact, there are many subordinate characters who are outliers.

It's a superbly fascinating book.

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments Let's see what we can do with this challenge. On the cover art I can always grab something from my collection of real books with covers by Frank Frazetta, Roy Krenkel, Neal Adams, Boris Vallejo, Darrell Sweet, or Michael Whelan. Back when sf and fantasy had dynamic non-generic covers.

Does Nero Wolfe count as a pecular character? Pfui to the first person who says no. ☺

Time to get started.

3. January 10 is Peculiar People Day — Read a book with a strange, unusual or interesting character.

Started reading Fer-de-Lance by Rex Stout the first Nero Wolfe mystery on 1/10/2016. Erin asked above who is more peculiar than Hercule Poirot? Nero Wolfe would be my answer. Finished 01/17/2016.

4. January 14 is Dress Up Your Pet Day — Read a book where someone owns a pet, or a book that depicts a pet on the cover (dog, cat, goldfish, etc). Reading Play Dead the first Allie Babcock Mystery by Leslie O'Kane. My sister owns 2 Collies and a Dalmatian so this book was an obvious choice for me. Finished 1/26/16

5. January 31 is Inspire Your Heart with Art Day — Choose a book based on its beautiful/artful cover.

Started Death in the English Countryside by Sara Rosett on 1/17/2016. Finished 1/22/2016.

Sentient inn - I'm intrigued. I know I have an Ilona Andrews series in my TBR list, but I don't think it's the innkeeper one. I'm going to have to read this.

Erin, I suppose you will have Kate Daniels series, this is a shorter series (only two books), that they has published first at their blog and later as a book. I've read both of them this Christmas and I've enjoyed them.

I've read the first 2 Kate Daniels books, I rank them up with the works of Jaye Wells' Sabina Kane series and Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress books. Sadly, both those series are at an end.

Erin, I've liked Kate Daniels books a lot... till a point where I didn't like it at all, and I don't know if I'm going to continue with them. I like Sabina Kane books but I never warmed up to Night Huntress books.
