I have decided to read "The Great Gatsby" because it is one that I own but haven't read yet.Suggestions of my favorite classics:
Anne of Green Gables
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Scarlet Pimpernel
Pride and Prejudice
The Hobbit
Wuthering Heights
Little Women
The Chronicles of Narnia
1001 Books to Read Before You Die list is a good source for me. It has many more modern classics. I really have a hard time with the oldies.
I have a collection of Mark Twain books, and I have been meaning to read through it this year. So, there are a lot I can choose from in that anthology.

Planning on finally reading To Kill a Mockingbird for this category.
Planning on The Great Gatsby or finally finish The Chronicles of Narnia. I have been stuck in Prince Caspian since last year.
Read Wuthering Heights for this category. Found it quite heavy, dark and morose but charming in an odd way.

I am a bit confused, I thought the category was "a classic of the 20th century" that's what I wrote when I first copied the categories. I am still going to make it so, and I will be reading The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers because I have never read any of her books, and the title always has captured my attention.
Just finished The Pilgrim's Progress for this task. I was a difficult read for me, but I did enjoy it more than I thought I would.

Bonus - many of them are short! But some of them are also rather long(winded).
