It took me awhile to figure this out as there seems to be a lot of opinions about how this book is broken down. I hope this isn't too confusing!

So far, a lot of aristocratic chit chat and gossip about Napoleon.

So far, I am a bit confused about who is French and who is Russian. I have a feeling I will need some visual aids to accompany this book!

Ha! This book is kind of funny - the bear swimming around with a policeman chained to his back. I was not expecting humor!

There is a lot of old-and-proper vs young-and-wild in this book. Looks like that is an age old conflict!

Pretty good so far. I am not getting a cohesive storyline yet though.

Ah . . . a fight between people who think they are the rightful heirs and an illegitimate interloper. A classic tale from the classics!

Okay - I made it to the end of Book 1 - but I am not sure if that is the equivalent of Part 1 in the last above. But, I am pretty sure I am still in Volume 1!

Lots of stories based around the mix of people in the war. Aristocrats mixed with Proletariats. Intelligent mixed with not so bright. Tactful mixed with buffoons. It makes for some eye opening experiences.

Finished Volume 1, Part 2 - Lots and lots and lots and lots of war . . . perhaps Part 3 will be peace?

Part 3 - back to peace - Pierre is very popular now that he is rich and a Baron!

We have gone from War to Soap Opera . . .

I think I finished volume 1! (version skew is confusing! )
