Yes i think you definately have the read Twilight series atleast twice. You miss so much the first time around I did. My favourite book of the series is New Moon, I could just read that again on its own.
Yea i think i have read the Twilight series about 4 times now :D Harry Potter a bit more tho :)
Mmm i think New moon was my least favorite of them

What did you think of Breaking Dawn, loved it or hated it..I hated it. So much potential in this last book but no conflict. Disappointed really.
I really loved it, yea i know what you mean about the conflict, but in a way I'm glad, i sort of wanted everything to be fine by then :)
Love all Twilight books but agree New Moon the least favo.Top book so far: Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) - J.R. Ward
Wow Lu!!!!!
Impresive!!! Well done.
How was Practical Magic?
And what is Moxyland about?

Practical Magic was a nice read :)
And I recommend Moxyland!
The just of it:
Its hard to explain what its about. Basically High-tech SA.
Hehe shameless copying:
"Moxyland crackles with bold and infectious ideas, connecting a ruthless corporate-apartheid government with video games, biotech attack dogs, slippery online identities, a township soccer school, shocking cellphones, addictive branding, and genetically modified art."

I definitely enjoyed this book, it touched many issues and explored many themes. I was surprised that i liked this book so much! The beginning was a bit slow, cause you had to pay careful attention to all the "tech" words and sort out what was going on. But it was all worth it! I will definitely read another book my Ms Beukes!

Ok so I'm going to be honest, I dont really enjoy books about Apartheid, so would you recomend that I read it??? I'm very picky when it comes to SA books... :)
Going to jump in (hope you don't mind Lu!) and say that what's cool about Moxyland is that it's NOT about Apartheid. Beukes doesn't completely ignore it, but it's one of the few good SA books I know of that isn't about race. The 'corporate-apartheid' mentioned in the review refers to the dominance of corporate powers in the book. One of the book's plotlines involves a new trend - branding the DNA of the cool kids (artists, musicians, etc.).
As Lu said, there are some awesome, thought-provoking ideas. Highly recommended :)
Ok so its sounding better and better all the time!!!
I just hate where SA authors really just ride this band wagon of Apartheid and its not suppose to even be an issue anymore, everything that is done in our country seems to involve apartheid, and I'm rather sick of it, its good to see someone putting a different spin on things then :)

Hmm, I think post-Apartheid politics is still a major issue, especially for the poor, but yeah, it's not like race and politics is the only thing that affects South Africans' lives. I think Beukes also did a cool thing by writing a great SA sci fi novel. It's the only one I know of, and hopefully it will open up the genre for other SA writers. SA novels tend to be realist (or at least, that's the impression I get), which is kind of boring.
I agree with you Lauren...
SA books I've read are always either about apartheid, or a romance that always follows the same silly route, girl loves boy, boy betrayes girl, girl goes away, girl falls inlove with another boy, first boy comes back, what now?
I just hate the way that some SA authors just fall back on these same themes all the time...
Yes I know its still a major issue, but because it is still a major issue, I dont think we need to read about it in every book about SA, we get enough of it in the real world :)

I don't read struggle/depressing/boring books. And I do find SA themed books to always be like that. But Moxyland blew me away!
And books are my escape, I don't want to read about my country while being depressed or bored.
But anywhooo read it! :P

On that recomendation I surely will!!! :)
I agree with you Lu, when I hear about all these things in real life everyday, I dont want to read about it as well, as reading is my form of relaxation...
