If the Earth were to end, why would it? Not saying that it will! I just wanted to know why you would think it would end. Like what reasons would cause it to.

If the world ends it will be just the human race's world. You know what I mean? It's just the human race that dies. The world will go one with out us. We might take a lot of plant and animals with us, but the world will just go on without us. It's how the Earth's been doing things since it first got life. Animals and plants die, but life goes on.

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 167 comments Mod
Good point. It might take a while for the WHOLE human race to die though, since we're constantly finding new cures and new remedies. It makes me curious. Do you think that we could estimate, guessing on how we've been discovering ways to live, how we're killing our planet, etc. ?

message 4: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
That is true....The human race is so darn big that it would take something major to wipe us ALL out.

message 5: by Ruby (new)

Ruby Emam (goodreadscomruby_emam) | 5 comments I agree with Violet. The earth has been through these mass extinctions time and over again and it has always recuperated itself, only the last one, i.e. the human brain has been the earth's most amazing creation. Perhaps we will come up with something...

message 6: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
Yah, the human survival instinct is too strong. We ethier come up with something, or die trying. But the sad thing is that the survival instinct can also be bad. Someone can be so preoccupied with surviving that they will do anything to survive. That inculdes killing, cheating, and more. Just like EVERYTHING the survival instinct has pros and cons.

message 7: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 167 comments Mod
Exactly

message 8: by Ruby (new)

Ruby Emam (goodreadscomruby_emam) | 5 comments Those preoccupied with surviving have been doing anything to survive, like killing, cheating and many many more... Now we kind of know who the culprit is and we need to think about "what our responsibilities are?"

message 9: by Lilli (new)

Lilli (lillig) Even though the human race is big, we could still be wiped out. Just think about the dinosaurs being wiped out millions of years ago! But some of the plants and animals survived that extinction but only the animals that were lucky to be able to do things that would make them survive. The human race could die if whatever happened was strong enough, or the human race would use their brains and survive. If the human race did survive an extintion that big, everybody would have new lives. Most or all of the things humans eat would probably be gone and the human race would not have enough resources to rebuild all of the things that they use in their everyday lives for some time.

Well, I think that when the human race get's TOO big then it's only a matter of time for either a war, a plauge or both to wipe out most of the human race. The human race is not supposed to get VERY big. There's just not enough resources in the world. Unless we find a better why of living, the human race is doomed.

Have you guys read The City of Ember?

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 90 comments i've heard of it. it's the 1 where the ppl live underground, no?

message 12: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
Yah. But do you know the reason why they had to live underground?

message 13: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 167 comments Mod
Nice point, Lillian.

I've read it. I haven't really thought of why they live underground though. I read it back in Elementry

message 14: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
It's in the second book (which by the way is not that good). But what I'm talking about it that most of the human race died out because the comindation of I think three plagues and a world wide war. If you think about that, the human race can really be destoryed because of that comindation.

Kendra (KendraG) i'm freaking out because of that moive preview that i saw for that movie 2012...

message 16: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
You know that's never going to happen. The worst that will happen is that a plane crashes or something like that. Not totally end of the world.

message 17: by Kendra (last edited Aug 12, 2009 01:09PM) (new)

Kendra (KendraG) ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh thx, i'm calming donw now..... but still, the nite before dec. 21 i problely won't get 2 sleep.

message 18: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
You know most of these things are all in the mind right? It's just like the full moon stuff. People think that they are supposed to do something crazy so they do it.

((Give have to my parents and put the rest in a college fund))

message 19: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 167 comments Mod
:) Relax Kendra :) If anything happens, I'll save you!!!!!!!! :D It'll be fine, the world will still be intact. As peaceful as it ever is

((Can I answer that question too?))

message 20: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 167 comments Mod
If that question asn't really for me you can just delete this but if I won 1 billion bucks, I'd save maybe half or a quarter of it then donate the rest or find something useful to do with it. Something to make a difference in the world even though it's not a WHOLE bunch. LIke it IS a lot, but not if you think about movie productions, building, etc...I don't know what I'm talking about :)

message 21: by Lilli (new)

Lilli (lillig) I would use as much as I need for college, half of what I have left for donating to people in need, and the other half to buy solar panels for my familys home and car, and to buy solar panels for other people.

the last one might be a little scary to think about...and some photos in the video I dont like but its going to happen. And yes global warming will help all of this to kill the earth but this is what will happen to the people in the end

Who knows what's going to happen at the end of the world.....I think it doesn't even matter to me. Why? Well, the end of the world is probably going to happen long after I'm gone. We'll probably fix climate change (though many may die) but the human race is probably going to go on.....Human's are a suburn bunch. We'll live of die trying....

message 25: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 167 comments Mod
I like what you said Violet :) Most stupid humans as we've gone over before, has said that "I don't really care what happens to the planet because i'll be long gone before it goes wrong". They're wrong.

message 26: by Dibily Do (new)

Dibily Do | 120 comments I am just going to say this just to...talk about some thing. What if you are wrong? What if you live in the end days that are right around the corner. And what if I say is true? I know where I am going...but where are you guys going when you die?

message 27: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
Ah! Well we can't really know for sure can we? It's all unknown. We can predict but we can't say for sure.

As for your last question. I don't know. The thing about death is that we'll never know for sure. We can say there is a heaven and a hell or something else, but we don't REALLY know. Once people find out, there's no telling the living about that. All we can do is hope and believe. And who knows? The afterlife might just but what you believe it is.....Again who knows?

message 28: by ♥ Rachel♥ (new)

and this is my belief about the afterlife: http://www.religionfacts.com/judaism/...

and nsa, i doubt the end is just around the corner.

message 29: by Psyc94 (last edited Aug 17, 2009 06:55PM) (new)

Psyc94 (pc-s) ...one question...can an implosion and an explosion happen at the same time?

message 30: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
Psyc94-Yes. That's what happens with supernovas. There's an implosion and then an explosion. That's why the creat black holes....But why do you ask??

message 31: by Psyc94 (new)

Psyc94 (pc-s) I was wondering what could happen if they both occured at the exact same second, instead of seperately.

message 32: by Psyc94 (new)

Psyc94 (pc-s) And with that being the case...how can that happen...?

message 33: by Violet (last edited Aug 21, 2009 01:44PM) (new)

Look up supernovas.

message 34: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 167 comments Mod
Well Rachel, actually NSA actually just points out a great ...point though :) You never really know when the end is right around the corner. What if some freak of nature happens? None of us can really tell the future, I do like horoscopes thougH :)

message 35: by ♥ Rachel♥ (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 90 comments true ^^ but still....

message 36: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
But there is a chance that chaos will happen in 2012. Scienctist are predicting that there will be a major solar flare in 2012. Do you know what solar flares do? They knock out satellits (sp?) and electric power grids, and it takes monthes to get those things back online. So just imgaine monthes with no electricty, internet, or phone. Chaos. And if the world does end it will be because of our us panicing. But scienctists can be wrong, their prediction are as right as very early weather predictions, in other words they are rarely right. There's really no point in worrying....

message 37: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (KendraG) If i won 1 million bucks i would freak out

message 38: by ♥ Rachel♥ (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 90 comments Violet - oh, that's y every1 was talking about 2012 as well as 2010....

message 39: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
Yah well, if it really happens the only thing we can do is turn everything off. It's much better then having no power for monthes.

message 40: by Psyc94 (new)

Psyc94 (pc-s) ...how many people would be able to see the solar flare...?...seeing as this is both contradicting, conflicting, and widespread?

Sorry if I ask too much, but I'm only "eavesdropping" on good information...if that has any sense at all...

message 41: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (KendraG) i was wondering that also

message 42: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
I'm sorry, but I'm not really sure what you are asking. "able to see the solar flare" seems confusing to me.

message 43: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 167 comments Mod
Blech, Solar Flares. Thanks for explaining it :) I didn't know what it was. So it knows out power grinds and satellites? That would be horrible! I thought when people were talking about 2012 being the end of the world, just being like myths and people being paranoid, but if there's science to back things up, it might actually turn out pretty bad. How long is an average for people to get things back up and running after a Solar Flare?

message 44: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
Well....A solar flare really is a big wave of comic radiation. It can make fuses to blow, both on satellites and at power stations (in fact that happened to a city in Canda in I think 2005).

Well, like I said....Scientist basically are like eary weather casters, they really DON'T know if there is going to be a solar flare, they just think that and they could be wrong.

If there was a solar flare, then it would take months to get the power back online and years to get a country/world back to what it was. The only real way we can prevent this is just shut everything down during the solar flare, so no fuses blow. Then just turn everything back on after the solar flare.

Here's a quote on 2012. It's from my Geo. teacher, Mr. Youngblood (I LOVE that name!)

"So the Myan calendar ends in 2012. So what? My calendar ends in December. I just buy a new one."

Isn't that a cool quote? I think it's just awesome!!

message 46: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 167 comments Mod
That's awesome! So i'm guessing he doesn't believe the 2012 thing :D

message 47: by Violet (new)

Violet (violetspring) | 236 comments Mod
No. You know they also said that the world was going to end when the year 1999 turned into 2000. That's why that song says, "Party like it's 1999." That New Years eve was suppose to be the last day of the world....but it wasn't. So I'm thinking that he just thinks that 2012 will be just another year.
