Marie | 11 comments What methods do you use to keep track of your thoughts while reading? I know there a lot of systems, I do write in my books, but often have more thoughts than can fit in the margin, plus I like a record of what I am learning, or agreeing with or disagreeing with. But I also want to be able to use this information later. How do you organize everything?

Jessi (jessamonk) I have recently started keeping a commonplace book that I use to record quotations that grab me, using this method of organizing: http://blog.highfivehq.com/a-little-k...

It looks a little messy with squares colored in on the edge of the page, but I'm a doodler anyway, so it fits.

Also, like you, I write in my books.

I am debating getting another journal to reflect on my readings (rather than just copy favorite lines). Or starting a multi-use prayer/Bible/reading response journal.

Just checked this out..... Looks like a great method! Thanks for sharing!

Marie | 11 comments Thanks for sharing this! I love the simplicity of it and I don't have to skip pages. I grab both quotes and my responses in the same journal, though I have a separate journal for my Bible study.

Kari (kaydee73) | 2 comments I keep a bullet journal and printed out the challenge and just taped it in. I use my bullet journal just like a commonplace book with pages for quotes, notes on books, and also normal stuff like menu plans, weekly to-do lists etc. I love it! http://www.stonesoupforfive.com/2016/...

Lisa Doorenbos | 16 comments I just started Bullet Journaling in January and that is also where I keep my notes. Kari your blog is one I've started following and have enjoyed! Thanks!!!!

Kristi I realize that this is an older thread, but thought I'd chime in as well. I have struggled with that for a long time. For the last few years, I've simply been keeping a "quote journal" which I used to collect quotes from all over the place that I loved.

However, it didn't fix the issue of recording my thoughts. Like many of you, I underline and write in the margins of my books as well. This year I started keeping a book journal; on the left hand pages I utilize it like a commonplace book like the others have been mentioning, and on the right hand pages I keep a running list of the books Ive read each month, a rating our of 5 and a little code indicating what I read it for (Reading Challenge, Book Club, etc).

Fi | 15 comments I keep a virtual version of a commonplace book (a new term to this Brit) on Evernote, with notebooks and tags!

Michelle Moses | 7 comments After reading Fred's comment at the beginning of the year I started writing quotes on index cards and filing them. Being able to put them in different categories is helpful.

Also, I write in a journal regularly. I write about my happenings and feelings and even my thoughts on the books I am reading.
