Okay so I had to finish early there just wasn't much left and I had to know. Now I'm kind of conflicted.

So I'm glad that in the end her brother tried to save her, a nice moment to show he wasn't a complete monster. I also had a thought the spirit would be related to Josephs past given how it tried to avoid him like it knew him. Also when brother started saying the spirit was a better necromancer than him, I just kind of knew. I'm glad she was able to save them though, I admit to being a bit worried about Joseph for a bit.

Now...OMG her hand. And her dominate hand too! Poor thing and that damn reporter. Okay so I know it would be wrong but since she technically has power could she like sacrifice him and get her hand back? Just saying he's evil and she needs her hand, I wouldn't hold it against her or shed any tears. I'm also happy that Mary was there, she stepped up and seemed like a possible friend rather than someone looking for a good bribe. Though maybe guilt is what drove her I don't know.

Now for the conflict. I want her to join them. I do. I want her to get her hand back some how but yeah I want her to join them. But....my esteem for Daniel has dropped significantly. I was all in love with him and even his bullheaded move calling their kiss a mistake, I think I understood he meant it not as a slight but as he didn't think it could happen and thus a mistake. Not the best thing he could have said mind you but forgivable. I was also confident he did really care for if not love her. Even as he said he did not I wasn't convinced but I no longer like him. I could understand his reasoning to want to distance himself when he was wanted and she was a fine lady with prospects, trying to do right by her. NOW, her reputation is ruined beyond repair and she lost her hand and you still find the need to kick her while she's down? In my opinion that is beyond cruel. You clearly care for her based on your words, actions, and behavior up until this point. If he cares for her then he should not have done that, a simple yes and but it can't work would have been a slight balm to her already wounded self. I mean come on again she lost a hand and you got away with no lasting injuries and your team intact thanks to her. If he truly doesn't then, well I guess my dislike for him as a romantic partner in the future won't matter.

Overall I really enjoyed the book and I'm eager to find out what awaits Eleanor in the next book. Though I admit having a small fear a romance between her and Daniel coming about might ruin it for me given my feelings towards him at the moment. Though I have no deemed him 100% un-redeemable just yet so we shall see what Dennard has in store for us.

I actually ended up finishing the book yesterday because there was no way i could stop after Saturday's section. There were just so many things happening in these last two sections.

I was glad that in the end Elijah was able to somewhat redeem himself by saving her. I am also curious to find out more about her powers. I have a feeling we only got a glimpse at what she can do.

Loosing her hand was horrible. Plus all the things being said about her family. I really hope she'll be able to overcome that and realize that it really doesn't matter what her snotty society "friends" think. I know she lives in a time when social standing was everything, but I hope she'll be able to overcome that.

I was a bit upset with Daniel for not being honest about his feelings, but I think he really believed he was doing the right thing. I believe he really does care for her and he was just trying to make it easier since he was leaving. My guess is that he does love her, based on his actions before, but was trying to spare her a tough choice since he is a criminal on the run and she wouldn't just abandon her mother. Plus being involved with him would just make it harder,if not impossible, to gain some footing in society. As of right now he is still wanted for the murder of Clarence and he definitely can't stay around. I think it was just as hard for him to leave her as it was for her to hear him deny he loved her. With that being said, i was a bit upset with him because I am a firm believer that being honest about feelings is always the best way to go.

Overall I really loved this book and I am looking forward to picking up the next book tomorrow.
