Cheryl Russell | 83 comments I can dream! I find it better to have books on my kindle, doesn't take up so much space.

message 3: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments I never used to like all this new technology but now am finding the advantages as I have more than 100 books on my kindle. Love it.

message 4: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments What are you reading at the moment? I'm reading The Girl From Kraków but not really getting into it although I'm nearly half way through. It is very slow. It's better than at the beginning so I'll probably persevere

message 5: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments I've just looked it up, is it sci fi it doesn't look my sort of thing. I like most things but I don't like sci fi, fantasy or horror

message 6: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments I haven't read the hunger games. I've heard of them but never read them. I know they are popular though.

Am I the only one who hated The Hunger Games?

I always enjoy a nice written book, and Suzanne Collins did a great job :) I guess the story didn't catch me :)

Thinking at how many books I could buy :P

message 10: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments What a lovely thought. Buying books! I bought several yesterday on my kindle, so have several books to read now. Enjoy pondering and hope you found some good ones.

Etina (wittinglybooked) | 1 comments Speaking of never ending wishlists, mine seems to be a growing monstrosity that I keep feeding everyday. Goodreads and Booktube channels do not help the situation lol.

message 14: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments Mine grows every day aswell. I should go through mine and see if some of the prices have been reduced, and then buy some.

message 15: by SerialReader, Moderator (new)

message 16: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments It makes my day aswell. Lol. How easily pleased we are, just a good book and we are happy

LOL! Some of those are actually inspired by books: Outlander, True Blood, Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girls, Sherlock Holmes, Shadow Hunters and so on..

message 20: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments I know but somehow I can't get into the telly versions. I love the Vera Stanhope books by Ann Cleeves but cant get into the series on telly. Just give me books though and I am happy.

Hahaha I love that meme! I feel like that's what I look like every time I walk in the library :)
I'm really wanting to watch the Outlander series now that I've read the first book.
Watched Game of Thrones after reading the books- hated it
Pretty Little Liars- never read the books love the show
Shadow Hunters- just don't even get me started.....no way that show could do the books justice

My face exactly! Lol..
Outlander sounds interesting but I haven't read the book yet.
Game of Thrones was a bit disturbing to me.. and Shadow Hunters is a joke, to be polite!

message 23: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 56 comments Game of Thrones the books were sort of disturbing, but for me the show deviated so far from the books and left out too many details. They would do one scene then jump like 10 book chapters to the next scene and I was like what just happened?!?!

Shadow Hunters- I loved the movie and then the book series and it just feels so wrong to even attempt to watch.

I'll just stick to my books!

message 25: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 56 comments Loved Breaking Bad! My husband and I binge watched the entire show on Netflix

What about Archer? I know its a cartoon but it cracks me up

I'm reading Sugar Scars by Travis Norwood (review here) and this book is full of pet peeves. What are your book pet peeves?

message 31: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 56 comments Huge pet peeve: books that take an entire paragraph to state something that could have been said in one sentence ex: Charles Dickens

Hello everyone,

The Serial Reader Book Club is on Facebook!! Go check that out :)

message 35: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments Must have a look, that would be wonderful

message 36: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 56 comments Anyone else get stuck in a book rut? I just came off reading such an amazing book that every other book I seem to pick up feels like I'm reading a bunch of blah blah blah blah blah.

message 37: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments I know that feeling, I get like that when I've read an excellent book, nothing can quite compare. What sort of book do you like. I've recently read a great psychological thriller called Beautiful by Anita Waller. That one I couldn't put down, so might be worth a try

I love all sorts of books- I don't typically stick to one genre or the other. It can range from historical fiction to YA to vampire smut lol
I do like a good pyschological thriller, I'll have to add it to my ever ongoing list and check it out! Thanks!

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments I'm feeling happy , have just discovered I can borrow ebooks from the library using the overdrive app on my iPad. Have managed to borrow 1 so far. Not sure how varied the choice is or how up to dat the books are but will have fun browsing. I can only borrow for 7 days then they automatically get returned.

When I was using my Kindle I used to borrow from the library that way all the time, I loved it! You should be able to go in and change your settings though so you can borrow for 14 days and I also loved how it automatically returned your books for you.

message 42: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments Yes, I changed settings so I can get them for 14 days, but already I have read three books and returned them straightaway, instead of waiting for them to be returned automatically.

message 43: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments Do you ever get that feeling when you are fed up, every book you start just isn't the good read you thought it would be so you end up giving up. This has been happening for the last few days just can't get into a good book, am beginning to despair.

message 44: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 12 comments Yes Cheryl I have had that experience. I begin to think it's just me. What helps though is I go back and start to re-read something that I loved reading and don't mind reading again (like a Harry Potter book) of a childhood favorite and it does something to put me back in the mood. Then I am a little more open to finding another book.

I usually take a day or two off then I go back to a new book.

I love Archer, at first I though the commercials for it were dumb but after many recommendations and a lack of things to watch on Netflix I got into it. I'm excited for the next season.
