Rules: Pick your reading level for the month, selecting from the following categories (you may choose a category for a number more than once, if you desire). If you find another connection to one of the numbers, you make list and use that, too. Remember, you may have two Reader’s Choices, or more, if you have more than three books that fall into the other categories. Also, you may use the “Spell-it-Out” option

• Six - Read a book with six words in the title.
• Six - Read a book written by six authors, such as an anthology.
• Six - Read a book in a series that has at least six books, but each book is written by a different author.
• Six - Sex- is a Latin prefix meaning "six." Read a book with the word "sex" in the title or series name.
• Eight - Read a book that is #8 in a series.
• Eight - Read a book with eight words in the title.
• Eight - Read a book that has eight works in the title and series name together.
• Eight - Read a book by an author with eight letters in their first or last name...or all together.
• Eight - Buddha's birthday falls on the 8th day of the 4th month of the Chinese calendar. Read a book where someone is a Buddhist, into yoga, or zen meditation.
Spell-It-Out Option: Choose one of these numbers, or a word that reminds you of the current month. Read books with titles, series names, authors (first or last name), character (first or last name), that begin with letters that correspond to letters of the word you choose. You may ignore the indefinite and definite articles (a, an, the, etc.).

Reading Challenge Details:
Runs January 1, 2016 – December 31, 2016
The goal is to read as many novels that feature men in uniform as you’d like. It can be a policeman, firefighter, paramedic, doctor, veterinarian, mechanic, military, etc. – as long as the leading man wears some sort of uniform, it counts. See the different levels below and pick the one that works best for you. You can move up a level as often as you’d like but no moving down. Remember, the idea is to challenge yourself.

Sergeant: read 1–10 men in uniform novels
Lieutenant: read 11–20 men in uniform novels
Captain: read 21–30 men in uniform novels
Chief: read 30+ men in uniform novels

Categories for the Library Challenge-
1-The largest library in the world is The Library of Congress, with more than 158 million items on approximately 838 miles of bookshelves. The collections include more than 36 million books and other print materials, 3.5 million recordings, 13.7 million photographs, 5.5 million maps, 6.7 million pieces of sheet music and 69 million manuscripts.
-Read a large book (over 350 pages) or a book with book(s)s or any other reading material on the cover.
The Storyteller
2- The smallest library in the world has appeared on the streets of New York City – and it has space for just one reader at a time. The bright yellow plastic structure houses 40 books and aims to help city-dwellers take a break from the pace of life in the metropolis by chilling out with a good story. The Little Free Library was designed by a pair of innovative architects using recycled materials to protect the books inside from the elements.

3-The highest library according to Guinness World Records is the library on the 60th floor of the JW Marriott Hotel at Tomorrow Square in Shanghai, China, is situated at 230.9 m (757 ft 6 in) above street level. Membership is available to members of the public and the 103 shelves in the library contains an ever-expanding collection of Chinese and English books. The library measures 57 m² (614 ft²). To walk to the library from the lobby would entail climbing around 1,435 steps.

✔4- The world´s largest fine for an overdue library book is $345.14 (£203.29), the amount owed at two cents a day for the poetry book Days and Deeds checked out of Kewanee Public Library, Illinois, USA in April 1955 by Emily Canellos-Simms. Although the book was due back 19 April 1955, Emily found it in her mother´s house 47 years later and presented the library with a check for overdue fines.

The Goal:
✩ Read 26 books in which the location names begin with the letters of the alphabet.
The Guidelines:
✩ A location can be as broad or as specific as you want...anything from a country (or I suppose even a planet - especially for Sci-Fi fans) down to a specific building. The one limitation is in order to qualify the name must be capitalized in normal use. For example, "amusement park" would not qualify, but "Disneyland" would.
✩ For the letter "X", any location with the letter "X" in its name is acceptable.
