Zing This is a discussion where we can talk about characterization in Incarceron and Sapphique! If there is any characterization, post it, along with the reason why you think it is characterization.

Szymon Kutchin I have not read Sapphique but have read incarceron and believe that the warden has good intentions but his superiors have the technology to make many prisons while saving time, plot land, an materials. Sorry but that is the main character that I remember. Expect I sort of remember that one who escapes and the one who helps him escape.

Yes, the warden certainly does have good intentions, but really, what he is doing is bad.

Zing Incarceron, although a prison, is also a character. As we learn early in the book, Incarceron is a creature with its own mind. Throughout the story we learn more and more about Incarceron. (This upcoming bit is a bit out of order) We start off with knowing that Incarceron is a prison. Then we learn that the prison is alive, and that it creates new people to live inside of it. We learn that a Sappienti named "Sapphique" escaped the prison, and we learn that there is a warden of Incarceron who tells it what to do. We learn that there are keys to get out of the prison, and we learn that Incarceron laughs at its master when the warden talks to it. We learn that Incarceron has intentions of keeping Claudia and Finn apart. Excluding the key, the most major realization is that Incarceron cannot see EVERYWHERE in the prison. Another major realization is that Incarceron can be temporarily blinded.

Zing The sapient species in this series are major. Jared is Claudia's tutor, and Gildas is a major companion to Finn throughout the book. Blaize is also another major sapient (as we learn) because he is one of the people who try to stop Finn, Keiro, Gildas and Attia. We learn that the sapient are very respected. They are all called "Master". We also learn that they know a lot, because Gildas knows a lot, and Jared knows how to do MANY things.

Zing (Personal Note: Next comment should be about Claudia, then after that it should be about Finn)

Emma What exactly do you mean by characterization? Like how a character develops?
