I was just re-reading the Quill blog post, and this is what it has to say about covers:
"We will provide you with cover specs once we know the final laid out page count for your book. We will then take your cover and back cover design, make adjustments as necessary, including the addition of a Quill logo, and print physical copies. "
So the author still needs to design their own cover, but I think they'll tweak it if it really doesn't look professional. They don't want to produce a batch of books that look really unprofessional, I'm sure.

Thanks for adding this, Cara! I personally will be looking at a fusion of work by my artist, John Anderson, and the very talented Joshua Jadon (joshuajadon.com -- the site it right now under construction).

For those who don't know what Quill is, in order to be a Quill author you need to reach 250 pre-orders on a project you fund through Inkshares. The goal for funding is 750 pre-orders so that a book will be published by Inkshares, but Inkshares has generously extended their offer to support new authors by publishing projects that reach 250 pre-orders under the Quill imprint. Quill publications receive lighter services but are still recognized by major bookstores and distributed through Ingram, allowing authors to do things like contact Chapters and ask for a reading event, etc.
For more information on how Quill works, read about it on the Inkshares site: http://blog.inkshares.com/post/133141...
Because it's a new avenue with lighter support, I think it would be helpful if Quill authors came together to share ideas and support one another so that we can all succeed with our book launches and getting our published books to readers.
Here in this folder, Quill authors can start threads, discussions, etc. Just please keep discussions here relating to Quill and Quill promotion / production / discussion ideas.
