Jo (allweatherreader) | 105 comments I'm just gonna quickly jump and down waving the banners of Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel, here, since the current runs are super fun for both of them and they both work.

In case people don't know: Captain Marvel is currently Carol Danvers (a white woman), but the title has previously belonged to a white guy (an alien, but doesn't matter) and a black woman, Monica Rambeau. Before she was Captain Marvel, Danvers was Ms Marvel, a title now used by Kamala Khan, who is Pakistani-American.

Captain Marvel, Vol. 1: Higher, Further, Faster, More

Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal

Shirley | 69 comments I've used that for my teenage protagonist and your right she's awesome. I used Thor, Vol. 1: The Goddess of Thunder

Jo (allweatherreader) | 105 comments Also an excellent choice! I have that on my tbr pile, might also use it for this :)

Jay Kay | 12 comments Hmm...is this not a task from last year's challenge? Number 4 on the 2016 list is to read a book to someone else. I'm confused

Julia (mizzelle) | 49 comments I think you're confused because there are two challenges on this group now -- Panels and the regular Read Harder one.

Ohhh yep, I didn't realize. Thanks!

Courtney | 63 comments My dog licked my hand and posted my comment for me! I loved Ms. Marvel and even got my teen son to read it. :)

Anyway - does it matter what volume you read of a comic/GN? I was thinking the next volumes of Ms. Marvel or Thor.

Or maybe Invincible, Vol. 1: Family Matters from Image Comics - it's on the recommended list and is a Superhero comic not from Marvel or DC!

Shirley | 69 comments Thanks for the heads up on that one Courtney :)

Jo (allweatherreader) | 105 comments I read Ms. Marvel, Vol. 4: Last Days for this, although I could count Thor, Vol. 1: The Goddess of Thunder when I get round to it.

I should think unless specified it's okay to read whatever volume you like; I know the point is to broaden your reading horizons, so I've been trying to read first volumes of new things as much as possible, but I currently do not have the infinite money cheat on, so must make do with what I can get/already have waiting.

Jo, thank you for this recommend. I am going to read Ms. Marvel, Vol. 2: Generation Why for this task. I really enjoyed the first volume last year.

Jo (allweatherreader) | 105 comments Welcome :) Ms Marvel is consistently good, I think (read vol.4 a few days ago).
