An awful lot of my H title books seem to be starters for series. Holes is the one I'm going to read - it seems to be one of those staples of the library that I never got around to when I was younger - but I can definitely recommend The Hogfather by Sir Terry Pratchett (best read in December), and Hounded by Kevin Hearne, the start of the Iron Druid series.

It has prompted me to buy several Liane Moriarty books!!
I have several "H" books to read this year. I have chosen "Hollow City" by Ransom Riggs. Others to be read in 2016: "The Heir" by Kiera Cass; "Hush, Hush" by Becca Fitzpatrick and THE HARRY POTTER SERIES! That's right...I've never read them! I am a HUGE fan of the movies but have never found time to read the series. I plan on doing so this year!!! I should have set my goal as 100 books to read in 2016 with the list I have! There are several series I want to continue with that are letters further in the alphabet. I will have to jump around some in the future. I'm trying to stay in order, but due to the library AND starting a book in a series and then wanting to follow up I don't think I will be able to!
I am staying close to order or otherwise I will be lost, lol, but you can do it however you want. I can't believe you haven't read Harry Potter. You better hurry if you want us to remain friends.
Holes is really good. I read it several years ago (a couple of times).Holly wrote: "An awful lot of my H title books seem to be starters for series. Holes is the one I'm going to read - it seems to be one of those staples of the library that I never got around to whe..."

I've got The Husband's Secret on my H list, too! Just finished Big Little Lies, my first Liane Moriarty book and loved it! Also picked up The Happiness Project. Who couldn't use a bit more happiness, huh?
I plan to read How to Die in the Outdoors, 2nd: From Bad Bears to Toxic Toads, 110 Grisly Ways to Croak

by Georgia Bragg, Kevin O'Malley short read and really interesting details about famous people's deaths

I want to read Big Little Lies as well. And more happiness is always good!

I have browsed How They Croaked, it's interesting. The how to die one sounds along the same lines, fun tidbits.

Detective series are my favorite genre so there is rarely a bad one. This one was ok but a little predictable. It did however work for my H and was a book I was interested in trying. I wish it had been less predictable as a Sherlock Holmes book ought to be.
I've started The Husband's Secret. So excited since several of you have recommended it! I know - I just finished my E book but this one was available now from the library so jumping around. I promise I'll go back for F & G!
So I am about halfway through The Husband's Secret, and I am so glad you guys encouraged me to read it. I am LOVING it! I was so angry at all the characters in the beginning for various reasons but couldn't put it down. I now know the secret FINALLY and cannot wait to see how the rest plays out.
I'm so glad you are enjoying it. My K book I just finished was Keep Quiet by Lisa Scottoline. I think you would like that one too. I'm embarrassed to admit The my H book was Hell on Wheels-the worst book I have ever read. I left a scathing review on it-and then turned around and read #2 in the series-just because it was #2 and it started with an I. Life is sad some days!
Sometimes I get aggravated about series. I simply CANNOT read them out of order, and lots of times I will read a crappy series just because it is a series (no more in that series though-really bad!)
I know what you mean though. I did that with 50 Shades of Grey. I felt like I should go on even though book one had zero plot and the writing is bad all the way through.
HIGHLY recommend The Husband's Secret. It was so good; it has put me in a book hangover. I have started 3 books since then, and while they are decent books, I just can't get excited about them because they aren't as great.
I'm a little out of order on the challenge, since I'm still hung up on my B book. So I read "How Dolly Parton Saved My Life." I was initially attracted to it because of the title. However, I was disappointed. I knew the genre going in, but instead of being creative and having all of these Dolly references, there's just a music quote here and there until the end. I like the lessons each character had to learn, but I felt like something wasn't genuine in the bond? Idk.
I know Kassi won't like my history book but I would advise anyone teaching to read Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler's Shadow by Susan Campbell Bartoletti. I'm not trying to say there is a conspiracy to adjust our society through education but it made me realize how much power the education system has in molding our society. I never really thought about how society will change by the rules and norms we put into our schools.
Sounds interesting-I'll add it to the list for my 2nd go round. They say history books are written by the winners-it's interesting to see how things are shaped.
It actually sounds more interesting than most of your history books :) I might check that one out.
