Personal reaction: I really enjoyed reading this book, and I stayed interested in it the whole time. There were a few surprises in the book that I was not expecting at all. Sometimes you can guess what is going to happen, but I was shocked at some of the things. I think the book captured the 1800s very well, and put a clear picture of the events in your mind. overall I really liked it, and I am excited to read the next book in the series.
