As a reader, do you need more redemption?

While I feel it's important not to deny atrocities like these, I felt a bit guilty that I needed just a smidgen of hope from this book. I've discussed this a little in my review Rebellion crushed: Human Acts by Han Kang http://annegoodwin.weebly.com/1/post/...
