Jennie (tangledupinblue) | 65 comments I have created a thread for each task. I'm not sure how messy that will be, so if anyone has an idea to improve upon it, let me know. That being said, I'm excited that we have members all ready! Please, post.. shelve your book... discuss. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you.

DeAngela | 3 comments Hello Everyone. My name is DeAngela and I live in the United States. Glad to be a part of this group. Thanks to Jennie for setting it up. I'm a bit of a slow reader but I plan to hit every category.

Happy Reading.

message 3: by Carly (new)

Carly (sea_ray) Hi. Can you create a separate thread for the 2016 challenge and list the tasks all in one page? Then people can comment on the books people have read for the challenge all in one thread.

Jennie (tangledupinblue) | 65 comments Yes! I am actually out of town for a couple of days, so I can do it when I get back, or if you would like to create it, have at it. I think I have the settings so anyone can create topics.

Carly, take a look in the tasks folder and tell me if that's what you had in mind. I've never moderated before, so I'm unsure what will work best so I'm willing to try other ideas. Thanks for yours!

Deirdre | 7 comments Hi! I am a book fanatic in DC. Many thanks to Jennie for setting this up. I was glad to find a community. In addition to participating in the threads, I plan to document my progress on my tumblr:

Looking forward to shaking up my reading this year!

Stacy Benedict | 47 comments I've already commented on a couple of threads, but my name is Stacy. I'm from Dallas, TX, and live in the Dallas area currently. I'm participating in a couple of other book challenges as well. I've already discovered some new authors and genres I love because of this and the other challenges! I actually don't have a lot of free time but have had recently so reading as quickly as possible!

Jennie (tangledupinblue) | 65 comments I am so excited that people have joined and are talking! Last year I did the pop sugar challenge and then kind of critically looked at the authors I was reading and realized that women and people of color were vastly under represented in my list, so I decided to broaden my horizons this year. I am a high school teacher, so I also welcome the challenge to push myself beyond YA and to talk with actual adults about books. :) Thanks so much for being here!!

maybe my next challenge will be overcoming my ignorance about the ins and outs of tumblr so i can follow your blog. ha!

message 9: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthais) Hi! I'm Martha from the UK. I've never done a Reading Challenge before, but in classic Run-Before-Walking fashion I'm trying to do more than one...

Does everyone plan out what book will fit which category before you start? I've just been reading through books I already have (that was a challenge to myself!) and then retro-fitting them into the categories, though I realised how biased my existing collection is, because I'm not doing very well...

Ah well, looking forward to seeing what everyone chooses! :)

message 10: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Benedict | 47 comments These are books for you to read in 2016, so not counting something you've read before. You could probably re-read the books, but that kind of defeats the "challenge" aspect. Make sense?

message 11: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthais) Yeah makes sense, I'm not re-reading! Just a classic hoarder, I've bought a load of books and not read them and keep buying more! So trying not to buy anymore for a while, but I doubt I'll last the whole year...

message 12: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Benedict | 47 comments Me too! I have so many I haven't read and so many sound interesting here. Thank God for recycled books!

message 13: by DeAngela (new)

DeAngela | 3 comments @Diedre, what a great idea to document your progress on your blog. I just followed you from my Tumblr blog and look forward to following your progress. My blog on tumblr is called Good Music Period. (http://www.goodmusicperiod.com/) Music is probably my favorite passion edging out reading just a bit.

@Jennie, the key thing about Tumblr is that you have to have a Tumblr page in order to follow someone or make a comment. That is why I like that platform. You don't have all the negative or anonymous feedback. It's easy and free to sign up but you can also just view pages (as long as they aren't made private). Hope that helps.

@ all, since I am new to Good Reads I plan to follow everyone's GR page that is in this challenge to get some book suggestions. I'm looking forward to the connecting and reading so much more this year.

Jennie (tangledupinblue) | 65 comments I have an account and I've poked around, but it didn't immediately make sense to me, so I never went back. Ha! I will have another look for sure. Thanks!

message 15: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Benedict | 47 comments How do I get the name of the book to highlight in my comment like many of you are doing? I'm Goodreads illiterate.

message 16: by Jennie (new)

Jennie (tangledupinblue) | 65 comments If you are using the full site, right above the text box is a link that says add book/author. When you get to the place in you comment you want to put the title in, click that and search and then it will insert it for you. Not sure how it would work in mobile, though. Hope that helps!

message 17: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Benedict | 47 comments Thanks Jennie! I am on my phone, so I suppose that's why I've never had that option. I felt so uncool!

message 18: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (naterby) | 23 comments Hi Everyone, I'm Natalie from Salt Lake City. This reading challenge is going to be great. I'm excited to read something that I wouldn't usually pick.

message 19: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthag503) I'm Martha from Vancouver, Washington. I discovered this challenge on Pinterest looking for books for another challenge. I'm participating in various challenges and probably am not wise to choose another, but this one emphasizes diversity in reading choice and I like that about it. I have noticed a few categories that overlap that I've already read, but unless I am behind at the end of the year, I am going to try to read new books for each challenge.

message 20: by Jennie (new)

Jennie (tangledupinblue) | 65 comments So glad you found it!

message 21: by Miquela (new)

Miquela | 4 comments Hi all - I am Miquela from Austin, TX. I started on the challenge before I found your group. I am very excited to have a focus for my "to read list". I have never done a challenge before and look forward to sharing with you all. Thank you Jennie for moderating!

message 22: by Jennie (new)

Jennie (tangledupinblue) | 65 comments I'm so glad people are still finding us!

message 23: by Melody (new)
