Goodnight the last couple pages everyone and their mother wanted to interrupt me every other sentence. I'm really excited to see where this one is going. Also what a horrible spot to leave off.
So she is adapting to life without her hand, her brother, her mother, or the Hunters. Awe it makes me a little twitchy how fondly she thinks of him and hopes for something still. What she is being put through is beyond insane the whispers, talk, and looks. She is pretty much on her own surviving on what she has left but then what? She has nothing holding her there and her mother, wow that was insane.
I actually liked Allison in this part, more than I did at all in the previous book. She listened and even accepted it. I loved her line of, as unlikely as it seems your story makes more sense. Yep so her story of long held revenge, necromancers, evil spirits, and the like is the one that makes sense. When that's the case you should probably take a look around because you're in need of a check up lol. I also almost feel bad she's in her position now, forced to marry by a mother and the only suitors older men with no promise for a chance at happiness besides financial security. I almost wanted her to jump on the boat with her. Also she is a good person, yes she stole the ticket but she also paid for it. She could have just stolen it without replacing her funds but she was better than that and given the circumstances that was a lot.
Now who is this yellow eyed boy. I already don't trust him if his eyes are like Marcus!

So excited to see where the story goes next. It was really hard to read about Eleanor having to sell everything and sacrifice her own happiness and freedom just to have her mother treat her so horribly. I am glad she is finally going to meet up with the Spirit Hunters. Allison was a bit easier to like in this section, but I have a very bad suspicion about her. I don't believe it was pure coincidence that she went to see her and knew about Paris; I could be wrong though.
I wish she didn't have to face everything on her own, but I'm glad she is finally about to go get some help. I am curious about Daniel. Him reading up on manners and wearing suits are probably him working on himself to maybe be someone worthy of Eleanor. I think he ended up placing her on a pedestal and thinks very little of himself. With him being a career criminal and no name in a society where everyone prizes a name above all else, I think he just doesn't feel like he could offer Eleanor everything she deserves. I want him to come around, but I'm also conflicted because I don't want him to lose the way he teased her and how they interacted.
Regardless of how things work out with Daniel, I am so excited to see more of Jie and Joseph. And while I like Joseph, I absolutely adore Jie. She is definitely the friend Eleanor needs to get through it all.
Now on to this boy we saw. I don't trust him. Nothing good can come of this. This was not the best spot to end the section lol
