Ben Nash | 64 comments I just came across a link to a volume of stories eligible for the 1941 Retro Hugos. I'm not that familiar with most of it, but it looks like there are some interesting authors.

This ebook contains 88 science fiction and fantasy short stories that were published in 1940 and may be eligible for the 1941 Retro-Hugo Awards in 2016 and that have fallen into the public domain. It is meant as a resource, not as a recommendation list.

Most of these stories were never reprinted. In the 171 short stories, novelettes, and novellas in this series, there must be at least one gem that has been overlooked and is worth nominating. Even if not, searching for it is the fun.

All of the short stories from Short Fiction Eligible for the 1941 Retro-Hugos Vols 1-7 are included here, along with five new stories. If I find any more short stories, I’ll add them to this ebook. A novelette volume will soon follow.

The stories by Bedford-Jones through Bond, Cummings, Kuttner, and about a dozen stories by other authors have been thoroughly proofread. Every time I proofread another few stories, I’ll change the version number and reupload the new version. The link you downloaded this from should continue to work for the new versions. I’ll leave the original Short Fiction Eligible for the 1941 Retro-Hugos Vols 1-7 up, but except for Volume Four, the novella volume, I probably won’t be updating them.

All volumes are cleaned up and readable as is, but you will come across a few weird artefacts from the conversion process, such, as, superfluous, commas, hyphen-ated words that shouldn’t be hyphenated, and words that are words, but hot quiet the night world for the sent tents.

If I overlooked a copyright renewal or if you find any typos, feel free to email me at gwindonvondimpleheimer@gmail.com and I’ll make the correction to any future versions.
