Have you read this nominee? What did you think?

Just finished this. I felt like it took a good 100-150 pages to really get started but once it did it was remarkably entertaining. Has a Firefly/Serenity vibe that I quite enjoyed. With the slow start but strong finish I would say it balances out to be flawed but still quite satisfying.

I want to add - if this is, as it appears to be, the first of a series I will enthusiastically pick up the next book. I love the world that is built in this one and definitely want to see more of it.

More amusing and exciting than I would have expected a SF novel about a union recruiter trying to sign up new members would be. That's a bit of an oversimplification, sure - the conspiracy that could wipe out the galaxy's economy helps - but not an inaccurate one. An enjoyable read, and a decent start to this year's PK Dick slate.
