I Am Avhor question

I am a new self published author and I am considering going for a Kirkus review. Can anybody give me feedback on this? Does it really impact sales or increase visibility among publishing houses. If you have used Kirkus reviews but were disappointed with the results, what else can you recommend for a first time self published author to get his book noticed. book:I Am Avhor|28464955]
