I liked The Sword of Shannara when I was twelve. Reading it as an adult—not so much. Lot of head-hopping, poor editing, and unrealistic behavior… Continuing through the series, it started to feel like Brooks kept writing because he had to, not because he wanted to or had a great story to tell. Such a shame…
I haven't read Shannara yet and I am always questioning if I should start or not. There are some people who really love it, but I see a lot of reviews that are negative or mediocre.
Well I just finished the first book and I have to say it will be awhile before I pick up the second one.
Never touched Brook's Shannara series yet, though it has interested me for years. I did however read Magic Kingdom For Sale when I was young. I remember enjoying it well enough at the time, but remember little of the actual plot now.

I started The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. The link is above. If you have not read The Name of the Wind I highly recommend it. I am about 200 pages into this one and am deeply entrenched in it.

Wow The Wise Man's Fear took me a bit but I did stop in between and read some graphic novels. It was a great book. Rothfuss did not lose anything in the second book. He is slowly becoming one of my favorite. For my list this month I will pick up either The Lies Locke Lamora or The Martian. I want to read both and both linked above. I am currently reading Go Set a Watchman. It is fun. Takes me back to high school when I read To Kill a Mockingbird.
Ok... This has been a interesting month for reading. I got done with Go Set a Watchman and The Martian. Go Set a Watchman was good but it was not great like To Kill a Mockingbird. I guess when you compare something from your childhood you have a higher standard. The Martian was great! I hope that most people take the time to read it. Maybe I am the last to read it. It was fun, quick and exciting book. Currently I am reading The Lies of Locke Lamora. So far so good. At some point I will read The Mists of Avalon. I keep finding books too bump ahead of it.
Well I finally finished The Lies of Locke Lamora. It was a great book. I am going to have to buy the other two books quickly. I have not decided whether to start Forbidden or Mistborn: The Final Empire. I have had both of them around the house for a bit. I started Mistborn last night. I might just go with that. I am excited to be knocking out some books on my list. But when I compare it to all of yours it is still behind.
I finished Mistborn: The Final Empire. It was a really good book. If you are wondering yes I am a little surprised that I liked it so much. I have started Forbidden. I am about halfway done. Not my favorite book. It is lacking a lot. It is kind of mushy. Everything blends together. Weak story as well. I will read Stiletto next. It will be the last on my A to Z list for a bit. I am going to read more Brandon Sanderson and Scott Lynch. I have a cross country road trip coming up and those are the books I will be reading when I am not driving.
I know I have not been on here in a while but I have been monitoring the A-Z challenge. It was just hard with the move to Hawaii and the drive cross country to get into new books. While going cross country I read B. Sanderson and S. Lynch. Plus a couple of Jack Reacher novels. LOL because they were on my wife's kindle. I am reading Sabriel and I should be done with this by the weekend. I don't know what will be next on the A-Z challenge because I have The Republic of Thieves staring at me in the face. It will be hard to bypass that for something new. Lynch is becoming one of my fav's.
I think I am going to take a break from fantasy for a bit. I finished Sabriel. It was good. I gave it 3 stars. I thought the ending was weak. I was actually worried about that as I progressed through the book. I was moving through it too fast to come to a good conclusion. Oh well. I think that I am going to read Master and Commander and start that series for something different.
I discovered that I have the audio of Lies of Loche Lamora, I'm planning to read it in a few months.
