I think I'm some books they were a little more nice with him... But I still don't really like them lol
Yeah Dudley was finally rlly rlly nice to Harry like He was saying, " but why isn't HE coming with us?" Lol
Yeah when he finally decides he likes Harry they are leaving, it stinks. JK Rowling said she thought about writing Dudley into the epilogue with a child at platform 9 and 3/4, but she decided not to. That probably would have been interesting.
I don't actually hate Dudley. I find it hard to completely hate him when it's clearly from his parents influence that he was the way he was. He saw how they treated Harry and so he just copied what he saw and they never stopped him so it just got worse. I think Dudley probably always had that secret jealousy over Harry that Petunia had with Lily. I don't like Petunia either because she treated her nephew like crap but then she did actually love her sister, she was just jealous that she got to go and she didn't (which I can't blame her for, if my sibling got to go to some awesome wizarding school and I didn't, I'd be pretty jealous and upset too). She blamed James for what happened to Lily and couldn't look past it. She probably found it hard looking at Harry and seeing the resemblance to the man that she feels is responsible for the loss of her sister and seeing the eyes of her sister that she lost. I think she also regretted the fact that she had pushed her sister away and never got to make up with her before her death.
I'm not excusing either of them but at least they had reasons. I hated Vernon because he had no reason to be as horrible as he was. I hate Marge too.

That's pretty much exactly what I feel too.

I hate Marge! Vernon is the worst name for the worst character. If I was Harry and someone said : "u can kill your uncle or Voldemort, it would be really hard and I don't know who I'd pick. Marge is like a meaner insufferable Umbridge..
I hate the Dursleys. They treat Harry terribly because he has something special, and they are awful fro that in my opinion!
As much as I hate the Dursleys for how they treated Harry, I feel sorry for Petunia. I think Petunia envied Lily being a witch so much that it made her bitter, but when Lily died she probably felt guilty and got stuck with Harry who was probably a constant reminder of what happened between her and Lily
They were awfulBoth in how they treated Harry and how they were in the book. They were supposed, I think, to be comic, but they were just tedious.
Julia wrote: "I know so sad, he finally decides to be nice right as there leaving"Well, "better late than never." Right?
I think that they were a really big element of Harry's childhood, and without them, the first few chapters in the first couple of books would have been really boring. So even if they were mean and horrible, or maybe even showed a little compassion towards the end, I still like them as part of the novels and Harry's earlier years. Without them, Harry wouldn't have rebelled, and a number of activities wouldn't have taken place.
You know, the bad thing about them is that they didn't know what was Harry's position in the Wizarding community. If they knew, they would be offering help or something similar.

"Petunia probably was afraid that finding out that Harry was a wizard would be as devastating to him as learning it about Lily was to her. Her means of building him up so it wouldn't break him were not well-chosen though.
