Nathan "N.R." Gaddis (nathannrgaddis) | 194 comments Schmidt's discovery of Joyce, in particular Finnegans Wake, had a profound effect on his writing. But he was already very Schmidtian before this encounter.

Hubbardston Nonesuch (betweencoasts) | 38 comments I routinely put the Wake on the staff recommendation shelf at the library, b/c no-one checks it out from the stacks. I've had one patron tell me she hated it and several others who went on to ignore me.

One day, though, I think someone will accidentally check it out and realize they have in their hands the greatest book ever written.
