I'm on chapter 2. It's a bit difficult to read. I'm starting to skip over the names and read between the lines.

Kaitlyn I'm really loving this! The writing is superb and it's easy for me to get immersed in the story. I haven't had much time to read due to school, but I hope to read more this weekend. :)

Melissa White (anovelrendezvous) | 17 comments I am really liking this story so far! I'm really struggling with some of the names which is slowing me down a bit. I thought it was fascinating to learn about Icelandic surnames. I'm also really curious as to the circumstances that lead to the deaths. Can't wait to read more!

Jane (scribblerjane) | 3 comments The prologue really captured me. So sort and yet so lyrical. It was beautiful. Though I haven't really had time to sit down and read this week.
Instead of trying to finish this book, I can space it out to two weeks right?

Mom2triplets04 | 316 comments Finished chapter 2. Yup I'm behind but still reading on. The writing style is still a bit hard to get used to but as I said I'm reading and skipping. I don't like skipping words but the names are a big stumble which slows down my reading. Will read more.

It's strange how they let criminals stay with regular people. Want to learn more about the murder and why she's accused.

Lindsay Denney Decided to join in on this read as I've been meaning to read this book for a long time! I'm really liking it so far. I'm enjoying the writing style and while the story/setting is pretty bleak I'm actually really hooked. I'm also curious as to how Agnes was involved in the deaths and her relationship with the other two accused.

Romanticbookworm | 6 comments I thought I would participate since I had the book on my TBR. I am hoping to get caught up with some of the reading schedule today as I fell a little behind.

I am very intrigued so far regarding Agnes involvement in this crime and also all the relationships that are being hinted at so far. I also like the Icelandic setting but I am also struggling a little with the names. I will say though when I starting reading this book I am hooked.

Emma (askirmishofwit) | 3 comments I also like the Icelandic setting but I am also struggling a little with the names.

I found I struggled too with the names, but if you just try to remember the characters' first names and let the surnames pass you by, or just remember key place names, you'll eventually fall into the rhythm of it and get to grips with it - or, at least, I did. :)

Cindy (cindymendoza) I've only just finished the second chapter and I'm very intrigued to find out more about Agnes, especially because we don't know much about the murder from her POV at this point.

Also, I'm finding it a little hard to like Toti but think I might really like Margret. Too soon to tell though..

I am totally in love with the writing so far. I'm also struggling a bit with the names of the places, but I'm trying to just skim them and not force myself to sound it out haha.

Sicily (sicilyjoy) also struggling with the town and surnames. but I'm happy to read about an area that I haven't before and get a peek into a different culture and time. so far the writing is beautiful and I can't wait to see how some of the characters relate to each other. I'm already rooting for the family to bond with Agnes.

I'm struggling a bit with this one, I guess i'm just not in the mood for historical fiction. My library doesn't have the audiobook either so i'm just going to put this down for now. I can't wait for our February readalongs though!
