“ the truth is the stars are falling, babe ╾ Parties. Mansions. Casinos. Fame. Endless wealth, all at the fingertips of one boy. It's everything anyone could dream of. But for Atlas, it's a nightmare. Born and raised the son of a goldsmith and a jeweler, he lived the life of a lord. But his parents neglected him as he grew, abused him verbally. They were constantly away at parties or on business trips. The only attention he received was during the balls they held, when they gushed over him like a prized possession in front of their friends. Atlas grew up alone, unloved and unwanted, but he became strong and independent because of that.
His younger sister was born when he 7, the result of an accident in bed. She was as neglected as Atlas had been, and they formed the closest bond Atlas had ever had with someone. He protected Daria at all costs, and she spent constant time with him. They raised each other, grew each other up. And as a teenager Atlas vowed to volunteer for Daria should she ever be reaped.
But Atlas' self-absorbed parents wanted more glory, more fame. They enrolled Atlas in the Career training program against his will, in the hopes that one day he would be a victor of the Hunger Games. The training centre became his second home; he was sharpened and hardened by the trainers, turned into a ruthless killer. He hardly saw his parents, but he preferred it that way. The only person he missed the most was Daria.
Atlas suited a life filled with wealth and fame. District 1 was all about that stuff. He knew how to use money wisely, how to present himself in a social situation, how to live up to his family name. But inside, Atlas despised that life. And to be honest, the Career program, the Hunger Games...it's all his escape.

“ and I never ever thought that I would say ╾ Atlas is hostile. He's merciless, angry, isn't afraid of death or murder at all. It is nothing to him. Atlas puts on a cocky, charismatic and narcissistic facade, but inside he has a temper and a ridiculous ability to kill. He knows how to earn people's trust, and will appear kind and merciful if he needs to.
But the training hasn't completely changed Atlas. He still thinks of Daria, and knows himself that deep down he is still as compassionate and caring as he was when he was a child. But he knows that if he reveals it, it will get himself killed. Atlas has shoved the kindness into the darkest part of his heart, but he knows it's still there. He probably won't ever bring it out.

rose crewe. nineteen. bisexual. district nine. just trying to survive.
Although Rose has neither the time or money to make herself look pretty, she still has beauty hidden underneath her work clothes and grime. Unlike many in District Nine and much to her disadvantage, her skin is pale and burns quite easily. It can tan, but not easily, and her tan is still much lighter than many other citizens. She has chocolate brown eyes that look hazel when the sun hits them, and dark brown hair which is usually flying out of her face because she has no products to tame it. That being said, her hair isn't exactly frizzy, it's actually pretty straight, but after eight hours of work on the fields, her hair isn't perfect. Rose usually ties her hair up in a quick ponytail or braid, doing whatever is most functional. She has naturally thick eyelashes, which is lucky considering that mascara could never be an option for her. She stands at five feet, four inches tall, not terribly short but not tall either. She is not very vain, and almost no one in District Nine is because everyone is dirt poor. She usually wears her work clothes, either very light in the summer, heavy in the winter, or some sort of jacket to cover herself in the rain. Most of her outfits are handed down from her sisters and have been patched together many times, though if she's lucky her mother can make her a dress out of spare fabric once every couple of years.
Rose has been hardened from her many years of labor in the fields, and has never had real friends because of not having the time. Relationships weren't too important to her or really anyone in District Nine. She is a hardworking and strong individual, not only physically but mentally as well. She won't put up with people talking bad about her or her family, and although her conditions are rough, she has perceived through all of her hardships. She is kind, yet it's hard for her to open up and trust many people after countless incidents of being stolen the only things she had from others as poor as her. Rose can act like she doesn't take the things people say or do to her to heart, though truly the rude things people do majorly upset her. She has just learned to keep the troubles of her life quiet and not add an extra burden to what her family already has to deal with. She often worries about the future and her family and will dwell on the past for longer than she really should, though usually is too caught up in work to think about many things she would if she had the time. She has a bit of a temper, though can keep her calm in most situations. The two things that probably anger her the most is the Capitol and the Hunger Games. She doesn't see why crazily dressed, wealthy people deserve to kill 23 people a year simply because it's entertaining for them.
Rose was born in the poorest part of District Nine, the Buck, to her two very hardworking yet still deep in poverty parents whom worked as croppers throughout the long hours of the day. Even though they harvested grain everyday, that grain had to be shipped to other places around Panem and she and everyone else who resided in District Nine rarely got to eat any of it. Usually, she just relied on her older sisters' tesserae and her own. Even as a young girl, only at the age of thirteen or so, she would work hard, brutal hours in the scorching heat, or it may be too hard to see anyone because of rain. Rain or shine, she still needed to work. Work was miserable, but it was the only thing she could do to stay alive, and that's what mattered. School wasn't really an option for her during harvest season, either.
She has two older sisters, Violet and Lily, her parents trying to keep flower themed names; why that is, Rose has no idea. She spent so much time working, and even as a child she would go to beg in places around District Nine in attempt to get at least some money to help her family survive. Sometimes if she got lucky, someone would take pity on her and gift her enough coin for a stale loaf of bread or something of the sort. Education never was a priority. Once she could read, write, and do the practical things that life required her to do, she stopped going to school. In her district, knowing the proper and efficient ways to farm were much more important than knowing the history of their boring home or learning how to do long division.
Violet and Lily got extremely lucky, and they were both never chosen for the Hunger Games despite how much tesserae they each got. Sadly, poor Rose is only at the mere age of sixteen and still has three long years left to go before she's out of the reaping pool. Three chances to be chosen, and more times to submit for tesserae each year. She's extremely scared, though if she got chosen it would be one less mouth to feed for her struggling family. If she won, which would be pretty unlikely, though she is very strong from her years in the fields, she could provide more than ever for her family and her whole district. She didn't want to get chosen, though it may prove to be a blessing for her family and even herself - she could escape her misery in District Nine forever, even if that came at the hefty price of being killed.
