Happy with these three selections, which I should be able to buy easily in the language of my choice when I am in Montreal next month. Otherwise, I am planning to catch up on the January BOTMs, the first tome of the Stone and the yet-to-be announced Calendar book.
I picked up
from a thrift store earlier this month, so I am delighted and will read my shelf.I am really tempted by Midaq Alley and Solaris, both of which are on my "want to read" list, but I've got to get going on Cloudsplitter and keep myself honest on off list reading (besides contracts).
I've read about 20 pages in the last two weeks. Have yet to start cloud splitter, Tinker Tailor, or Dark Child.
I want to read all three Feb BOTM so I better start reading.

I hope to get
Midaq Alley from the library. I recently read very good things about this author and have yet to read anything by him. I recently read Solaris (last year) but since it is audio and not long, I might reread and look forward to discussion. I won't reread the book about tractors but will look forward to the discussion.

Oh and I've read almost nothing in the past days that Amazon announced their intention of destroying Shelfari. I want to read but it just doesn't seem to happen.
I have plans to read all three books, even as I am trying to finish Tinker, Tailor... and volume 1 of the Story of the Stone.
I read Solaris last year for the ATW180D challenge, but have the other two, and am excited to read them both.
Happy with all results. Midaq Alley has been on the shelf since about 1990 - so this has to have priority. If I ever get back to reading....
I have all three books on hand, for once. I still haven't started either the annual read or the seasonal, so that's something I want to get to as well as the calendar and randomized list books. I'm a little more than half way through The shining, but I don't do well with horror stories so I've had to read other books in between.

If I make good progress with Cloudsplitter and Story of the Stone I will re-read Midaq Alley because I enjoyed it and want to be fresh to answer the questions.

The only copy I could find in New Zealand was in a university. They DID let me borrow it!

I understand. My local library recently discontinued their inter-library loan program and the library rarely has the books mentioned in 1001, especially those written by non-American authors. The ones that the library does have are almost always checked out. But when I can buy a used book for a penny plus $3.99 shipping on Amazon, it's not that bad. Christmas and birthday gift cards help out a lot.

"I feel so blessed some times - I have access to a first rate library system in Minnesota and a pretty decent one for a small rural county in Florida - and they both have access to first rate ILL programs. Even then I couldn't get Complicity in Florida, but was able to get it used for a penny and $3.99 shipping, I overpaid, but that's a different issue.

Bigger library system, ILL and a friend at Georgia State.

So what are your plans for February? Will you be reading one of our BOTMs? Splitting clouds? Or launching your read of Stone? Are you leaving room for the February Monthly Calendar book?
Pray tell.
I almost forgot - credit for Solaris is split four ways this month: Book Worm, Paula, Beverly and Sushicat each gets credit for 51 pages.
