Chapter 1“Hey, Marina. Y0u play piano, don’t you?” My friend Lisa asked me.
“Yeah. Why?” I asked
“Because i need you to do something.”
“What?”
“Play this song..” She said and handed me some sheet music. “But you have to do it at night, in the dark, slowly, at midnight, and don’t mess up. Okay?”
“Okay. But how am I supposed to see the music in the dark?”
“The lightning.”
“Okay. But what is this for?”
“So you can see the demons.”
“Lisa. Demons aren’t real,”
“Marina, please. Just play the it.”
“Maybe.”
“Bye, Marina.”
“Bye, Lisa.” I said, and walked home.
“Hey, Marina!” My stepmother, Clarissa, called to me when I got home.
“Hey, Rissa!” I said, and I walked into the kitchen.
“How was school?”
“Fine. How was your day?”
“Fine.”
“I’m going to go practice piano for a little, if that is okay with you.”
“Sure!”
“Thanks Rissa.” I said, and walked up to the piano room, and started playing the song that Lisa gave me. After playing it for thirty minutes, i decided to stop.
Please don't take amiss. I liked the concept a lot, but I think the conversation between Lisa and Marina should be more elaborate. They just left so fast that we don't know anything about both the characters. Then, I think you should describe details since right now, they are just plain conversations between two people. Who is Lisa? What type of a person is she? Is she a very good friend? Further: Does Marina like her step-mother? What does she look like? And later, what sort of a song is it? Is it strange? I play the keyboard, and if I get a song to play, when I do so, I'll certainly judge how the song is and whether I like it or not.
I agree, Hallie. I like the idea, and the demons and music definitely make me want to know more about the song. That's why I would like to know what kind of music it was. At least say what genre it's in, how long it is, is it hard to play, fast or slow tempo, etc. Also, just wondering, are you going to do the whole story in conversations? That would be cool but hard to pull off well.
I'll admit that I used to write like this back in 2011 and 2012. About in 2013, 2014, and 2015, I expanded my writings. I cringe everytime I look back on my old writings. I've reused SOME of them.
