A Song of Ice and Fire - A Chapter a day discussion

1-They were back in High Heart. Thoros was watching the fire, and Gendry asked him if he could see something. Thoros answered he couldn’t, not there. Later the dwarf said it was because the old gods still lived there. Thoros told a little about himself, he was the youngest of 8 brothers and his father sent him to the Red Temple, something he wouldn’t have chosen. I guess they are trained there? Thoros was telling how fond he was of Robert when out of nowhere Beric says the fire consumes and leaves nothing. It was weird though, I forgot he acted like that.

2-That night the dwarf woman visited, and talked to Lem, Beric and Thoros. She said Beric stank of death, it was fresh on him. Lol at this woman asking for kisses to Lem. Interesting she said it’s been a thousand years since she kissed someone, which makes me thinks she is one of the children even more. She asked for a song and wine then. The dwarf said Balon and Hoster died, although we haven’t heard from Balon. “In the hall of kings, the goat sits alone and fevered as the great dog descends on him.” Is the hall of kings Harrenhal? It would make sense. She also dreamt about a wolf howling, a terrible sound, no one listening. Of a maid at a feast, with purple serpents in her hair, with venom in their mouths, and later of that maid slaying a giant in a castle made of snow. *SPOILERS FOR UPCOMING CHAPTERS IN A STORM OF SWORDS* (view spoiler)[I forgot she dreamt about the weedings! 2-The woman knew Arya was there and called her, then told her she smelled like death. I wonder why, it’s not like she killed someone recently, or maybe she was talking about the future. She called her wolf child and blood child as well. Apparently Arya reminded her of Summerhall and told her to go. Was she at Summerhall? I didn’t pay near all the attention I am paying now to the things the woman says.

3-The woman said to take Arya to the Twins, where a weeding was about to take place. She then asked for Jenny’s song, whoever that is. Thoros told Arya to let the woman enjoy her song, it was all she had left. Arya didn’t have bad intentions though! Interesting Thoros said wherever Catelyn was, Beric would find her.

4-Gendry didn’t like Ned, lol, but he seems like a good lad. I totally forgot he was from Dorne, and had eyes so blue they looked purple, and hair so blond, like ashes. Quite interesting, he looks like a Targaryen. He was with Beric since he was 7, been his squire since he was 10. He is 12 now, and looks startle when Arya asked him if he killed someone, thinking she killed a boy at 8. Arya tells Ned her father had the same name, and was sad after. Ned saw her father at the Hand’s tourney, and I forgot Beric was supposed to marry Ned’s aunt. He asked Arya about Jon, and she got sad thinking about him, but thought he wouldn’t mind if she killed. I don’t think he would. Ned said Jon and him are milk brothers, a woman named Wylla, Jon’s mother according to Ned, who nursed Ned. *SPECULATION ON JON SNOW’S MOTHER* (view spoiler)[Maybe this woman Wylla nursed Jon as well, but I still think Lyanna is his mother (hide spoiler)].

5-What the hell do they call this boy Ned if his name is Edric Dayne? Anyway, he was the Lord of Starfall, and lol about Gendry in this entire scene. Arya thinks of maybe writing Jon from Riverrun to tell him about his mother. Turns out Edric’s father was Ser Arthur Dayne’s eldest brother. And Ashara Dayne was his aunt, he told Arya she threw herself out of a cliff because her heart was broken. Lol at Arya thinking it was stupid while Sansa might have cried. Ned said Ashara and Eddard had something going on when they met at Harrenhal, and of course Arya gets mad. She said Catelyn was the only one Ned loved, and Gendry comes in telling he had a bastard after all, but he said Ned at least raised him. Arya goes further because she thinks Ned is lying, and asked Anguy, who told her Dornishmen lie.

6-Harwin told her later Brandon was still alive when Harrenhal happened, and he thought it was a lie anyway. He said probably Ashara killed herself for grief, his brother died after all. Interesting he told Arya to not tell anything to her mother though.

7-They got to the village, Hoster burned it because the people there were Targaryen supporters when Robert was fighting. They were all wet, so they started a fire, and Thoros saw Riverrun would be under attack by the Lannisters. Arya said Robb and her mother would be there, but they reminded her about the weeding. They asked if Brynden knew her, but he wouldn’t recognize her probably. So, they wanted to go back to Acorn Hall, and Arya run away thinking she should have left Harrenhal alone, and how Hot Pie and Gendry weren’t her pack because they left her. Sandor was there, and he got her. Arya was planning to go back, but now she can’t of course. I wonder what the Hound was doing there, I can’t quite remember.
