Coming in a tied first place, for February's BOTM, voted by you all is by Susan Dennard. I've heard many members rave about this book or have been wanting to read it for so long, well here is the chance to partake in a group Buddy Read. I'm definitely going to be joining in this read/conversation as I for one am interested in this book. So, pull up, let's get comfy and Happy Reading to you all.

Too long a wait at the library. There's only one book available and each person has 21 days. So I'll have to pass.

We don't actually start until 1st Feb or anytime after that. Hopefully you can join in at a later date :D

I started it already and am 20% in and started off a little slow but I'm still intrigued. Hoping it kick's off real soon…so hurry up guys and load the book up :D

YAY…I haven't had the chance to read anything today but hoping to get back to it tonight.

I just purchased my copy of this book, hope to get started on it soon. I will be going to ApollyCon in Savanah at the end of the month to have my copy signed by the author.

Okay, I threw in the towel with this one and DNF at 36%. I just couldn't push through it anymore. It was so slow and boring. I'm sorry for my honesty but if the story is lacking "world building" and explanation, then I'm not riveted.

I'm right there with you Sylvia. I've been trying all week to read it and failing. I feel like it's throwing me in this story and not explaining everything so I struggle to stay interested. My boyfriend just left so I picked up it and put it back down after 1 page =(

I have to read it for two different challenges so I can't DNF the book.

That's a bummer Sylvia but now I know not to rush if I read it at all.

I hope that you like it Farren. It's such a mess when you don't like what you are reading when you know there are so many that you would enjoy.

I finished the book within two days. I liked the story and all, although I did wish Dennard would have explained the world a bit more as well as the witches and their abilities but it was not hard for me to visualize the world. I've been reading high fantasy back to back though so I'm not sure if that's the reason why I was able to keep up. The story line was interesting to me though.. The slow parts were agonizingly slow but I think it was needed in order to get a better understanding of the characters.

I can safely say that if I were you, I would take my time getting to it…like, if it was the last book on your TBR list lol

My relationship with high fantasy is "hit and miss" i.e. either gonna love it or hate it…story needs to have me from the start, not about halfway lol

I get it, Silvia :) I am like that with certain books I read. I guess this is one of those you either love it or you don't.

We just can't love them all :)

For your sake, I hope you love it cause I couldn't connect with anything in the story and had to give up reading it.

It took me 11 days but I am done! I read the whole second half today while home sick. The ending was ok, but it just wasn't good enough to make up for the boring beginning or lack of world building/explanation. I liked Iseult but that was pretty much it.

Now I feel a bit better lol everyone was loving this but I couldn't get into it at all.
