For my recent beach vacation I downloaded books to my kindle from my library's OverDrive e-book pages--the only thing I see on my selected screen format is book covers. Boy, was I surprised by some of the actual content!!
5/15 A surprise: This reminded me of the Ally Carter books. My first shock was the protagonist is a boy, not the girl I was expecting. And the boy's challenge made me feel more stressed than when Carter's thieves risk imprisonment!
5/9 No surprise: This Kindle freebie looked intriguing. It was similar to other books I'd read about Elementals and teens coming into their powers but it was unique enough to stand on its own.
5/8 No surprise: Seemed magical and youthful, I happily got lost in the this world.
5/15 No surprise: She looked like she never missed a chance to sass and that was basically true. I was surprised there was a mystery, but the culprit was no surprise.
5/16 Surprise: Expected a lighthearted, g-rated paranormal mystery. By the end of the book I was annoyed by every character.
5/11 No surprise: it looked like a beach read and it was.
5/15 Surprise: Expected a fun cozy, some gossip and a small town mystery--by the end I didn't care about any of it.
5/8 Surprise: I expected beaches and tropical paradise (with a murder.) It was about a cruise ship and my mental images were all gray and crowded and claustrophobic (with a murder.)
