-Sam hopes they reached Whitetree, so he looks at the map and knows where they are. But the more he looks at the weirwood, he thinks the tress of Whitethree were bigger. Sam had to walk because their second horse died a while ago, and his feet are frozen. Gilly rides the horse with her baby. Poor Sam hurt himself trying to make a fire. It seems Gilly was used to make fires, so she made them. Sam got to the conclusion they were not at Whitetree, the face on the big tree was not the same, and the eyes were whipping blood, which is really creepy. Sam prays to the old gods, they are cold and hungry. Their situation is pretty shit, they ate almost all they took from Craster’s, and Sam doesn’t know how to hunt. Not good at all, plus he doesn’t know where they are, so the maps are useless.
-Sam thinks if they keep going south they’ll eventually get to the Wall. The thing is he needed the gate at Castle Black to pass, he doesn’t know other way to go through. Is so sweet of Sam to tell Gilly about the Wall and how big it is, and how she’ll have a fire to get warm and food in Castle Black. Although I don’t know what he planned to do with her. Lol at Sam blushing when Gilly was breastfeeding her baby. Gilly asked if he sang, and Sam said he used to, and he liked to dance as well. Of course his father didn’t like it at all, and thought it was a thing girls do. Sam sang the Song of the Seven, a song his Septon sang to him and his sister before bed. He sang it with his mother to his baby brother the last time, and his father told Sam’s mom she already ruined one son and he didn’t want the other one ruined. Such a cruel man, Sam is better man than most.
-Gilly’s baby doesn’t have a name, she said it was bad luck to name them before they were two because so many died. They had so many different customs. Gilly liked how Sam sang, and asked him why he sang only about six gods. He replied no one sang about the Stranger, and he wasn’t comfortable talking about it. Tyrion prayed to him though.
-He thinks Gilly is braver than him, and she might, but Sam grew so much since he arrived to the Wall. He wonders what the hell he’ll do with her in Castle Black. Even though she offered to be his wife, he can’t marry because he is a man of the Watch, and because she is a wildling. His father wouldn’t like it at all. They slept under Sam’s cloak because it was big enough for all of them. Even they are not in the best position, they do pretty well with the cold at least.
-Sam had a dream about him being the lord of Horn Hill. Jon, Jeor and all his brothers were there, but wearing bright colors, and Gilly was in his bed. He woke up; the fire was out and Gilly was hugging her baby, the horse kicking. In the door Sam saw a shadow, and Gilly said he came for her baby because they could smell them pretty easily. I forgot it was Small Paul though. Sam told Gilly to take the baby out with the horse and run. Small Paul had a raven on his shoulder like he wanted in life, although the raven was now eating his cheek. Dagger in hand, Sam took courage so Gilly could run away, which was really brave I have to say. Sam stabbed Small Paul a few times, but I guess he didn’t actually hit Paul, and the dagger broke because of the chainmail. Because of this Paul started to choke Sam, and Sam found his regular dagger but couldn’t stab Paul this time. I don’t think it would have done something though. Sam lurched forward, he was bigger than Paul so he could breathe a little. Sam ended up putting a chunk of scolding wood into Paul’s mouth. Paul still choked him for a little bit, but then his head was on fire, and the blue gone from his eyes. So intense!
-Sam goes out, and sees Gilly surrounded by wights, Lark the Sisterman, Softfoot and Chett were some of the wights. They torn the garron apart, and Sam thinks it’s not fair at all. But then a raven lands at his shoulder, and is quite interesting it says “fair, far, fear” and after thousands of ravens descended on the wights. The raven in Sam’s shoulder told him to go, and I forgot the ravens made no sounds, which is really interesting. So Sam went and took Gilly, and she said they had no horse to go anywhere. Sam hears a man called him brother; he was on the trees with an elk. He was wearing black, so he was a brother. The elk got down so they could mount, and the man helped them with his hand. Sam saw he wasn’t wearing gloves, and his hands were black, cold and his fingers hard. What an ending! So many questions!
