Whenever I read a book that is incredible, normally it is partly because I fall in love with the characters. Honestly, for me, the characters can make or break the story. I do NOT do damsel in distress characters, it is definitely a deal breaker for me. I have a book self for books with strong female leads since so many female characters lately are pathetic (thanks twilight!)
What are your favorite characters?

My favorite female character is Alexa from Blood Warrior (The Alexa Montgomery Saga, #1) by H.D. Gordon . She is such a strong character through the series. Even with a love interest, she still maintains her strong features.

My favorite male character is without a doubt Todd from The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness and the entire Chaos Walking series. He is only 14 and the way the other writes the story you can watch him mature throughout the series. The author even writes it as if he were Todd so the grammar in the beginning isn't perfect. I think that might be why I like Todd so much, he isn't perfect. So many books, especially YA, have these super strong, perfect but slightly flawed male leads. Todd is simply a realistic 14 year old going through a very difficult story. He falls in live with a girl but in a realistic way, it isn't love at first touch. In fact they don't so much as kiss until the last book in the series. He is just a fantastic character that made me really sad when the book series was over.
