I am reminded of Alistair MacLean for some reason! I think his books qualify as escape stories?

Shivam Kalra (thatwriterfromdelhi) | 41 comments I'm sorry if I sound like I'm mentioning this book over and over again, but The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells is the best escape story I've read, and this book has affected me emotionally on so many levels
