(Your Girl's Boyfriend)
Name: Ashton Harley Current
Nickname: Ash
Age: 2 years older than your girl
Appearance:
Maddox wrapped an arm around Katerina and gently rubbed her back. He would let people think what they wanted as he planted a soft kiss on her head. Maddox was just trying to comfort her and keep his promise. He had told his brother that he would take care of Katerina when Ash had asked him in the hospital. Ash had been in the hospital his last few days. It's what made his death harder. Because they had all had hope that he would make it. Ashton had made him promise that he would take care of Katerina. Now he had to put that promise to use.
Maddox clenched his teeth as they lowered his brother into the ground and everyone took their tossing dirt and a flower on the casket. "It's time, Kat." he said softly in her ear and gently pulled away, brushing away the hair sticking to her face from her tears.
((What happened to my first post?))
Maddox took his turn right after her but said nothing. He was sure at this point that he had just gone numb. It had hurt when he lost his dad but losing his brother hurt so much more. It was like losing a piece of him. He and Ash had been so close and had always been best friends. Now, he was gone. Maddox glanced over at Katerina again and began to think of what he could do for her. He would have to talk with her after the service was over and they had gone back inside.
((I'll post when I can. I have school.)) Maddox stood in a line with his mom, Katerina, and a few other family members. People said they were sorry and that they knew it was awful but he doubted they knew what it was like to have your brother ripped away from you. Maddox shoved his hands in his pockets and looked over at Katerina. She needed a break and he had to keep his promise. "C'mere, Kat." he said, taking one of her hands. Maddox led her a ways away from everyone else. "No one will judge you if you go home." he said softly to her. "Don't make yourself more miserable because your trying to please people. You've done your part." Maddox told her, resting his hands on her arms and rubbing them gently, trying to comfort her.
Maddox watched her with worry. Was she pushing too much or had this taken a bigger toll on her than thought? "Don't be sorry." he said to her, moving a little closer to him. "Are you okay, Kat? I mean, obviously you're not, but... Are you sick?" Maddox asked her, his brow furrowed. He, just like Ash, didn't know that she was pregnant and honestly didn't think about as that as a reason why she could be sick. Maddox had thought that they had gotten so intimate.
((I'm sorry. I swear I had posted.))Maddox nodded but his worried frown didn't disappear. "I understand. You do what you need to, Kat. Take care of yourself." he said to her, looking down at her. Maddox moved closer to her and ran a hand through his hair. "You call me if you need anything, Kat. Do you need a ride?" he added. Mad wasn't sure how she had gotten there, he had been there for a few hours when everyone else had started arriving.
Maddox shook his head. "No, no. I'll drive you home, Kat. You're not taking the bus. Not while I'm around," he announced, dead serious and he gently, but firmly, took her arm and began to lead her to where they had parked their cars. "Kat... I promised Ash that I would take care of you. That's the one thing that he wanted from me," Mad told her, glancing over at to gauge her reaction to what he had just said.
Maddox nodded at her request. "Yeah, we can," he answered, his voice soft as he spoke to her. Maddox took out his phone and sent a quick text to his mother, explaining where he was. His mom knew of the promise he had made to Asher. He slipped his phone back into his pocket. "Remember. Call me if you need anything. Even at 3 in the morning." he said to her as they reached his car.
Maddox shook his head as he unlocked the car doors, opening her side for her. "I don't, Kat. I'm sorry," he said to her, his frown reappearing on his face. Mad waited until she was settled in before he closed the car door for her and went around to get in himself. "Do you need some? I can get you some once we get in the store," he offered, looking over at her as he buckled his seat belt in.
Maddox nodded and pulled ontobthe gravel driveway leading out of the cemetery. He stayed quiet as he drove them out and to the store, not sure if she was looking for conversation at all. Maddox glanced over her and wondered how she was going to deal with this when she was alone. He shook his head at himself, reminding himself that he was supposed to take care of her. Mad pulled into a parking space in the store's lot. "Ready to go in?" he inquired softly, unbuckling himself.
((That's fine with me. Make it happen.)) Maddox nodded and got out of his car, a little surprised when she came around and took his hand. Mad didn't fight her and started to walk with her into the store. "It'll be okay, Kat," he said softly, pressing a light kids to the top of her head. Maddox said nothing else as he went inside with her. He let go of her to grab a buggy, unsure of how much would be bought. "Where to first, Kat?" he inquired, leaning on the bar of the buggy.
Maddox followed her around the story, having no qualms with doing it. When the came to the ice cream, Mad chuckled at the look on her face. Apparently that was a way to cheer her. Needed to remember that. Maddox looked over at the elderly woman waving at Kat and was taken aback by her comment. He wasn't sure if he should tell her they weren't or to let her believe what she wanted. Either way it didn't effect them.
Maddox followed her to check out and helped her put the things on the belt and then back in the buggy once they had been bagged. "Do you have your money, Kat?" he asked her, prepared to pay for her stuff if she didn't have her money. As he waited for her answer, Maddox grabbed a cold water for her just like he had promised.
Maddox nodded and quirked a brow. "Why would I forget?" he defended and set down a separator to pay for the water himself, like he promise. "Pay, Kat, or we'll never leave," Mad told her, a joking smile on his face as he teased her. Maddox knew she was still pretty upset and wanted to cheer her up at least a little.
Maddox's mouth tipped up into a smile, knowing he'd done his job. He helped her load the buggy then paid for her water. "Here you are, Kat," he said, handing her the cold bottle of water. Maddox then leaned against the buggy and pushed it towards the exit so they could get to her place.
Maddox gently moved her aside. "Just get in the car, woman. I can do it," he told her, kissing her head before he started loading the trunk up. He returned the buggy and got into the front seat of the car. He buckled up and looked over at Kat. "Ready?" he questioned.
Maddox nodded in affirmation and pulled out of the market's parking lot. He drove to her place and pulled into the driveway. It was the little house she had shared with his brother. "Let's go," he said softly
Maddox nodded. "Of course, Kat. I understand," he said and pulled out of the driveway. Where Mad lived wasn't fantastic. It was a small apartment that he was also sure he paid too much for. It was a one bedroom so Mad would be sleeping on the couch but he didn't mind. So long as she was comfortable.
Maddox gave a slight smile when her stomach rumbled. "I think something might be starving on the inside, Kat. Wouldn't happen to be a whale or anything?" he teased. Maddox would do it constantly if it kept her in a better mood than constantly mourning her brother. Sure he wouldn't stop her from that, some people needed a longer grieving period but he would try to make her smile as much as she allowed him.
Maddox smiled at her and pulled into a parking space in front of his apartment. "Okay. Here we are," he said and got out of the car. Mad grabbed what groceries he could before going to his door and unlocking it, kicking it open with his foot. "Hey, Kat, do we need to go back so you can get stuff?" Maddox asked her, suddenly realizing he wasn't properly equipped to house another person. Not a girl at least.
Maddox set his bags down and went over to her. He rested his hands on her arms as she laughed without any sign of stopping. "Kat, I think you need to go rest. Take a nap," he suggested. Maddox honestly thought she was going a little crazy. "We can go get your things later," Mad told her after she had finally started to settle down.
Maddox wrapped his arms around waist and rocked a little. He dropped his head to rest his cheek against her head. "It'll be okay, Kat," he murmured, rubbing her back gently as he tried to soothe her.
Maddox held her, willing to stay like that until she pulled away. He was having a hard time not breaking down himself but he needed to stay strong for Kat. He didn't just want to leave her alone and have no one to go to. Mad ignored his phone as it rang in his pocket. He had more important things to worry about.
Maddox heard her yawn and he smiled softly. He gently swung her into his arms, bride-style. "You get some rest and later we'll go get your stuff, Kat," he said, carrying her to his little bedroom. His old queen sized bed took center stage and a dresser was tucked in one corner with a makeshift desk in the other. Mad placed her on the bed and moved away so she could get comfortable.
Maddox nodded and sat down beside her. "Just rest, Kat. I'll be here," he said softly, allowing her to use him as a pillow in any way she wanted. Mad could always see why his brother had loved Kat and knew that he still would if he hadn't died in that crash.
Maddox let her rest on him and gently rubbed her back as she fell asleep. He wanted her to be comfortable and feel better. He sighed softly and rested his head back against the head board and closed his eyes. Maddox was more tired than he had thought. Everything that had happened the past few weeks had been slowly draining him.
Maddox never woke through her phone's ringing and a majority of her conversation. Near the end as the spoke of when he would be arriving to visit, he woke up. Mad rubbed his eyes and yawned. "Who was that?" he inquired, his voice thick with sleep. Mad was curious as to whom would be visiting her in the next week or so from what he heard.
Maddox grunted and nodded. "So he's coming to visit?" he inquired, looking down at Kat as he propped himself up with his elbow. Maddox had never met Sam but he was sure that his brother had. There was no way that his brother had managed to date Kat without meeting all male members of her family.
Maddox chuckled then sobered but forced himself to smile. He didn't want her to stop and think about it like he had. Mad wanted to keep her smiling, at least for the time being. "Well, hopefully he'll be nicer to me," he commented then sat up, stretching with reach towards the ceiling.
Maddox quirked a brow and looked down at her. "That's what I thought too..." he said, letting himself trail off. Mad had never thought she and Ashton had ever gotten that far. He rubbed a hand through his hair. How much was there too their relationship that they never told anybody?
Maddox nodded, her voice breaking him out of his thoughtful reverie. "You rest, I'll go put them up," he told her then slid off the bed. Mad began to put the groceries away but stopped to think. He had never heard a thing about his brother and Kat going farther. Mad knew it was possible that his brother had kept it from him even though they told each other everything.
