Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 230 comments Curious from the themes, is it anything involving the supernatural, or other positive things with the theme? As an example, haunted houses and vampires are in horror novels, but is this theme meant to focus on gothics with them, etc., that are not horrorish?

Due to blog description here:

"If you’re like me, your faith is broad. Thus, “Ethereal” is a home for everything under the sun that goes beyond the black & white. If you are among the millions reading about haunted houses, psychics, witches and endless variety of serious literature: healing, dreams, miracles; I invite you to our group. We leave nothing out, even those darned vampires. Fantasy is otherwordly and children’s literature has magical animals. "

We definitely aren't looking for or focused on horror. I consider spirits a positive thing. Ethereal is anything mystical or spiritual; anything beyond the physical. Gothic literature by itself would not fit because there isn't always metaphysical content. Anything religious or paranormal, as well as fantasy because it's magical. That "special something" that is not explained rationally. :)

I am not sure how high my reading count will be for this, but will keep an eye out for the theme as I'm reading throughout the year. I'm sure I'll run into something.

As you said, you read tons that classifies as spiritual, paranormal.... anything mystical as well as fantasy and fictional wonders. I've seen your books and you ace this all the time. Children's literature makes it easy because there's usual a talking animal or something magical. :)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 230 comments I'd say Uprooted may work for this? It has trees that carry the lives of another race and there is much healing in the second half. "The Woods" are a living element and their is a lot of mysticism involved. Has a nice ending.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 230 comments Also read these books I think fit

Sweep in Peace (Innkeeper Chronicles #2) by Ilona Andrews Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles, #1) by Ilona Andrews

High magical content with the inn and innkeeper lore, a pet dog that is much more than he seems, different dimensions and creatures from them, a magical market, a magical broom, etc. Both good, recommend them :)

I really hope I have taken your hesitancy away in my most recent description. I'm kind of freaking out that it isn't clear, stuff like "Uprooted" is EXACTLY what my group is for. That's the stuff!

Whew, good. I'm sure other people don't have the isssue I have, I think it's because I read such a weird blend of so much paranormal stuff that I wanted to make sure to include the right ones.

By that statement: unfortunately it still isn't understand. It **definitely** has to be you and maybe I'll fly over there and shake you. LOL. "ETHEREAL" IS ABOUT ANYTHING REMOTELY PARANORMAL, SPIRITUAL, OR MAGICAL. "Blends" or "right ones" is a misnomer. This group **is** the spiritual, magical, paranormal. NOTHING excluded. Fiction, non-fiction, young, old; the whole special trait of this group is that it is the very first one to include all possibilities. Please say you understand by now or I'll need to go and lie down. ;>

:D

Well, if you fly down and shake me, we definitely need to do some fun stuff afterwards when you're visiting lol

Okay - anything paranormal, spiritual, and magical. Got it.

Actually anything mystical at all; even those animal communication books I recommended in the vegetarian discussion "Ms. Nose In A Book" wanted me to invite. There's nothing fictional about that but much of the magic in our world and universe is very real. :) Oh, other than the thrill of meeting you and your cat of course; don't get me started on what's to see in Florida!

The ocean. Lighthouses. Whales. Dolphins. Sunken treasure. Seashells. Disney World!!!! NASA!!!! I'm torn about "Sea World" type places. I oppose with every breath, taking animals away from their wild. How awful is that. But if they are injured or orphaned wildlife helped there, perhaps in-house temporarily.... I'd love to see those acquatic faces up close. Oh! Used book stores! Mine can't keep up with what I need from my list.

In case these enthusiastic notions of Florida don't sound exciting, you would certainly be free to tell me what there is that is fun to do! :)

Since ETHEREAL is a gathering place for the spiritual, mystical, and otherworldly: this week-end's coming religious holiday fits in here. I am independently spiritual. That merely means embracing the Lord and the Saviour separately from religion. I like them solo. Q;-)=

Vast readers like us here are wonderfully warm, open-minded, and very learned. I'm constantly glad I found this website. In whichever way you each celebrate, my friends and new peers: Have a blessed, happy Easter, from central Canada! Yours, Carolyn.

I guess I haven't gotten folks used to checking in here for information and good discussions. I value those here despite belonging to other groups, no doubt with high traffic that makes it hard to revisit these comfortable little spots. I wished everyone a happy St. Patrick's day and wished all of you a happy Easter. Let's see if I hear many more echoes of goodwill by now wishing you a happy spring! Carolyn.

I've turned against Sea World myself, but I'm lucky to be near the heart of Theme Parks. My favorite is Universal Studios, it's a definite delight. Florida does have its charms - so many places do - although it's not my preferred area to live. Still so much here I haven't seen that I want to explore though.

Sorry about that Carolyn - I keep missing updates too. I wish Goodreads would let us set groups to frequently check in the updates feed. I'm a member of so many groups it becomes buried!
