TTDTL Chapter 22
id anyone else wonder how Veronica was the only to to think that Billy was in custody when the ransom demands were made? How did that one get past Lamb? Even though he is Lamb....
It was awkward for me to be in the same room with Keith and Lianne, can only imagine how Veronica felt about it.
Susan wrote: "It was awkward for me to be in the same room with Keith and Lianne, can only imagine how Veronica felt about it."i agree. it was awkward!
I agree; it must've been awkward for Veronica but I'm sure it was even more awkward for Keith & Lianne
Dawn wrote: "Haha you said get past Lamb, as if that is hard to do!"You could probably commit a murder right in front of the man and he would miss it.
Not only that but even as a parent I wouldn't actually believe that this was ransom demand, it sounded so sketchy, not bringing any proof of life and all. I was very nervous about Keith seeing Lianne too

LOL. He'd probably be online googling himself.
Plot Point: Margie Dewalt asks Petra Landros to use the reward funds for the ransom demand. Petra agrees.
Don't police usually try really hard to not let you give into a ransom? Lamb hardly tried at all!

Neptune wrote: "Keith handled seeing Lianne again after so long VERY well. I was so proud of him!"Yeah, he handled it MUCH better than I would have!
Yeah, I agree Lamb definitely isn't that smart but he also doesn't really care about anything except himself
So true! He would miss it because he was busy looking in the mirror!

I agree that the ransom seemed fake. took too long. And I thought Keith handled being around Lianne great. Better than I would have.

I was surprised Lamb wasn't looking for some way to lay claim to the ransom himself.

I honestly don't think he would care if a murder was committed in front of him, as long as he could get some tv time out of it!

the less Lamb has to do the better. this way he has less that he can mess up!
Plot Point: Tanner suggests hiring a ransom specialist to assist in the ransom demand.
Did anyone think this was kind of suspicious?

yes. this is when i really knew that something was going on in the Tanner home.
Susan wrote: "It was awkward for me to be in the same room with Keith and Lianne, can only imagine how Veronica felt about it."All I could think about was how awkward it would be, just like if my divorced parents had to be in the same room together.
I had never heard of a ransom specialist. Hard to believe something so specific existsenough to have a market.
by the way, did anyone else feel sorry for Hunter? i mean, Lianne is his mother, his father is also an alcoholic and his sister is just messed-up!
Dawn wrote: "I had never heard of a ransom specialist. Hard to believe something so specific existsenough to have a market."
I was thinking it was sort of like a person that deals with hostage, etc. situations.

"
Haha. So true.
Plot Point: Veronica feels uneasy about the families giving into the ransom demand.
"Somewhere in the pit of her stomach she had the uneasy feeling that the girls weren't going to mae it home. If the families paid out, someone was going to get away with fraud at best- and at worse, murder."
I'm with Veronica. Who else?

I thought Tanner suggesting the ransom specialist was very suspicious. But it didn't seem like Veronica was suspicious.
I thought the same thing!

enough to have a market."

I felt so bad for the little guy! I wish Veronica cold have had more time to spend with him, and not meet him under such bad circumstances. Selfish Lianne hadn't wanted to confront Veronica and introduce her to her own brother!

Totally agree!
Hannah wrote: "Yes, I definitely felt bad for Hunter; he seems like such a cute kidn"makes me wonder if he is going to play a part in upcoming books....
I didn't think the suggestion to hire a specialist was suspicious, but I thought the amount of the ransom was a little suspicious. It felt too specific
That's true! Veronica did not protest to that specifically. Just giving into the ransom. Maybe it would have been too much of a giveaway?

I know it's a really hard situation, and one that I never even want to have to contemplate, but everyone seems to be ignoring Hunter. He seems to be plugging along just fine, but we never see anyone really dealing with him or trying to help him... he's in the background for everyone and it's so sad!

The chapter starts out with the Dewalt and the Scott families gathering to listen to the ransom demands.
