It starts with a trial of a Japanese American named Kabuo Miyamoto being accussed of murdering a local fishermen named Carl Heine. It goes through the processes of the trial all the way up to the verdict. I personally didn't like the beginning of the book because it started off really slow but towards the middle and end is where it got interesting. The type of people I would think that would want to read a book like this is people who are into the whole dull courtroom, small town drama type novels.
