It occurs to me that we never did a group discussion about the Sherlock holiday special release The Abominable Bride, which is a shameful oversight for this group, LOL. So in the spirit of "late is better than never," I'll throw this thread up and see who bites.

Did you watch The Abominable Bride? What did you think?!

Scott | 1 comments I watched and enjoyed it. I thought it was quite cleverly done. :-)

Kathy | 2 comments Loved it. A great appetizer for the next season. Loved the mix of past and present. Need to watch it again to look for subtle hints. Thanks for starting this thread!

Cindy (botamom) | 8 comments I agree about the subtle hints. I was babysitting my grandchild while I watched it and didn't capture all of the nuances in the story. So when the end of the show was again in present time, I had to retrace my thoughts! Definitely need to watch again!

Linda | 44 comments I watched on streaming video on a much to small screen (all I had) and then went to the cinema to see it on the large screen. Yes, there were more details to be seen and heard, but I will have to get the DVD to catch everything. Having the closed captions running makes a huge difference.

Thanks for the thread and cheerio!

Lenore | 1087 comments I have to admit, I was totally confused by the sudden lurch into present time.

Katie (k_pratt) | 13 comments I really liked it, and loved that they got the cast into a more traditional interpretation by going back in time. I loved the more "extreme" versions of Holmes and Watson in their historical alter egos, too. I can't wait for the next season!

Diane (dideo74) | 48 comments I also loved the obese Mycroft. Great teaser to the new season.

KarenB | 352 comments I think I'm in the minority. There were a number of things that bothered me but they pretty much boil down to: 1. Moffat has trouble writing good women and the feminist KKK was just ludicrous - totally threw me out of the story. 2. He also has a real problem with homophobia which I wish he'd just get over. 3. Overall, it's just trying to hard to be too many things all at once.

I also thought it wasn't particularly enjoyable, though I watched it a couple of times to see if I had been missing some subtleties. The dialogue about women (but most especially the speech at the end from Sherlock) was painful. I would absolutely agree that it was trying to pursue too many different threads at once. I really wanted to like it, but I just didn't.
