Death changed my perspective on life, and moved me in the direction of seeking God. My Dad was a totally different man before he died. I knew at that moment that only God could change the heart of a man. What started out as just a friendly email conversation, evolves into a collection of poems and letters that I believe in my heart will draw people closer to God. My life is a testament of God’s unconditional love and forgiveness: the underlining theme throughout the entire Bible.

Here's a little about my new book, The Light: A Modern-Day Journey for Peace

Gold Medalist in the International Body, Mind, Spirit, Book Award Contest and Bronze Medalist in the IPPY’S for 2017!

While many have heard of the Near Death Experience this book is different as it searches for the common thread between us, in this world. This is not a book on the afterlife or what happens on the other side. Discovering a global context for the Near Death Experience is exciting and being the author I want to spread the word about another way we can view this phenomena.

Is a global spirituality possible? Maybe. This is a ground-breaking novel on the Near Death Experience that unveils the roots to a global spirituality.

A Modern-Day Journey for Peace moves us to consider if the Light of the Near Death Experience isn’t actually the bedrock of religion and the springboard for a universal connection. This modern-day story melds the varieties of religious experience into a visual whole. The essence of God becomes globally and tangibly defined. This story uncovers our prevailing spiritual unity despite our world’s seemingly different beliefs. Ultimately, there is a powerful spiritual bond we have with one another. Gods and the names for God have changed in every era, yet one dynamic remains constant—the Light.

Religion’s Common Denominator? . . .The Light
God does not have a religion.
God does not speak a language.
God does not have a culture.
It is we who require these things.

Lissa Oliver | 36 comments Sainte Bastien (The Skullcap Trilogy Book 3) by Lissa Oliver The opening pages of my latest horseracing psychological thriller, Sainte Bastien :

PROLOGUE
Pain comes in many guises. It can be physical or mental; minor or crippling; invisible or scarring; inflicted and endured. It can be a necessary evil in the process of healing. Or it can be a deliberately devised torture.
That afternoon, in that room, it was all of those. It crackled in the atmosphere, enveloping both its victims, as breaths were stifled and tears clung fiercely to the eye, never once betraying emotion. Emotion was buried too deep, sealed in by grief and violence.
When it was over, it was over for good, but, for one of them, there would be no healing.

CHAPTER ONE

It was, if nothing else, a memorable start to the Flat season.
A large crowd cheered and whistled as Mark Ashton walked from the grandiose pillared steps of the Doncaster weighing room out to the parade ring, his head high, his hand raising in the jockeys’ time honoured gesture of ‘touching the cap’ as he acknowledged the crowd. His smile said it all.
It was good to be back.
His appearance in the parade ring was remarkable for two things. For one, he didn’t have a ride in the race. And for another, he didn’t have a stitch on.
Around him, owners, trainers and jockeys, huddled in their various factions, paid scant regard to the latecomer, despite the raucous whistles from the crowd. A biting March wind raised the collars of their coats and kept their heads low, ripping through the thin silks of the inadequately dressed jockeys.
Trainer Nick Marchant, protected beneath his standard garb of tweed overcoat and aged trilby that most people would swear had accompanied him from the cradle half a century earlier, kept a paternal eye on the two-year-old colt jig-jogging past him as it threatened to become a handful for the young boy leading it. The wind was upsetting several of the horses, their unease infectious, but the whistles and cheers of an unusually rowdy crowd were proving to be the final straw. Nick allowed his gaze to stray from his charge to the source of the unwelcome noise and his good-natured roguish features creased into sudden concern.
At once, the momentarily stunned groups within the parade ring erupted into sudden life, some attempting to wrap Ashton in coats and discarded horse sheets, while others closed ranks around him, blocking the view of gawping outsiders. The St John’s Ambulance crew hurried forward uncertainly, not quite trained in invisible injuries.
Though Nick felt drawn to help, there was little he could do, other than concentrate on his own jockey and the skittish colt who would be representing him in the first race. There were others, more skilled in such matters, to tend the jockey who had apparently forgotten, among other more essential things, that he’d retired less than a month ago.

With aliens intent on harvesting the Earth's resources - including its people - what remains of humanity has long since retreated to a few, hidden, bases underground.
A chance (or not) meeting between two individuals might be able to change all that - if they can a) come to understand each other and b) stop arguing.
Trouble is, Jo is twelve and Ike's the rogue AI of a starfighter.
Can they become a team in time to save the world?
